What does it take for a 4.6 GT to run in the mid to low 13's with street tires???

Hey guys i recently totaled my 1990 5.0 and am in the market for a fox 4 GT I am just wondering what mods will bring her into the mid to low 13' with street tires???? Also is the top end more powerful then the 5.0s???? Like form a 3rd gear blast?

A 99+ GT will have more power than a 5.0 across all gears. With the mods listed in my sig. I have managed a best of 13.62, my previous best before the Mach1 suspension upgrade was 13.7-13.8 all times on the OE street tires.

A couple minor, but effective bolt ons and a bunch of practice will probably net you mid 13's. Low 13's can be had with more practice and maybe drag radials.

What I mean is, don't waste time/money with CAI's and swapping out your mufflers for some Flowmasters if you're looking for effectiveness. Gears, NO LESS than 4.10's, maybe a little bit of suspension tweaking and any other small thing you can think of to help your car breathe better, mid pipe, etc.

Check my sig........ That was my best last night and I only ran 1 time with the 50 shot. I will be able to improve on that though since my 60' was a crappy 2.1. I can pull a 1.9 or 2.0 consistantly with my bald, stock, goodyears.

mods in sig, i havent ran the current set up in good weather, but in 95* heat i went 13.50...corrected to the high 13.1s(with the current mods). I am chasing 12's on street tires once i get my headers on in the next couple of weeks. Of course i am going to bolt the et streets on first to get it done, once i have the slip the street tires are getting put right back on to get that done.

13.608 @ 102.48 with just the UD pulleys and the Accufab goodies. Had good weather last week so that helped but it dosent take much if you drive them good. That was also not power shifting because I was loosing traction too much.

its just a calculation that the website does probably based on weight and trap speed, i don't know what is up with it. Only the times matter to me

Also.... if you know that a race is coming up,yank the spare and the jack out of the trunk. Also letting out a few pounds of air out of the tires is a good way to help the hook up. Cheap and effective....

haha, yah, I got the same crap with a HP calculator too, 275 with the mods in my sig. Thats what I figured, but thought maybe you had a factory freak or something Now if I could learn to drive like you I might actually post some times of my own

My ET,and MPH are in my sig,and all i have is a K&N,mac catted h pipe,flowmaster mufflers,3.73 gears,and a SCT chip for hp mod.
A stang lowered with eibach sportline springs isn't your typical drag set up.

Suspension, suspension, suspension....with the stock rubber I was cutting 13.5's...with the addition of LCA's and some DR's...plus most of the parts in the sig I was pulling in 13.ooooh's.....
On the 23rd I hope to be in the 12's....I've been waiting patiently!

Edit time...not that I was stock when I ran that 13.5 on the Goodyears...

Stock suspension is more thancapable for street tires to get a bolt on car in the low 13's. gears, midpipe and timing is all it will take(decent weather and a good driver also of course)

ive seen it happen, justsomeguy on here ran 13.2 with a 1.9 60' on the stock suspension and gatorbacks. mods: 4.10s, TA, magnaflow xpipe and c/b, and maybe a cai(worthless). Tony Whetstone ran 12's with the same boltons I have (except manufacturers) with only lca's for suspension mods and he was on stock gears @ 3400+lbs.
