I want to race my friend with his 92 5.0 against my 94 cobra. His mods are as follows. 3.73 gears, edelbrock rpm II upper lower intake, pullies, mac equal length headers, mac o/r h pipe , mac mufflers , aluminum driveshaft , cold air intake and thats it everything else is stock. My car has as follows 3.73 gears, aluminum driveshaft,1/2 inch intake spacer, flowmaster mufflers, upr o/r x pipe, cold air intake , pullies, steeda shifter, and everything else is stock. Oh yeh we both have our timing set at 15 degrees base timing. Those are our mods. Who do you think will win the race in the quarter and from a 2nd gear pull? Any info will be great. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I also wanted to say i dont have headers for my car yet, does anyone think headers will help me in the race? Wht type of feel will they give me or wht benefits will i get from them. Should i go with longtubes or shorttubes?

well u already have a h-pipe or x-pipe right if so then u probly just need shortys and = L. ones i like bbk some peeps like mac but i had a friend that had problems with his, so i would not get them. Also headers i think would help u out alot since u have x pipe and flowmaster u should gain anuf to tell in driving. if u have the money get them man they will help. also u might look in to throttle body i did not rember if you had one or not. I know it woke up my cobra up alot. it loves the 70mm :D i ran in the 1/8 th mile stock i was running like 9.8 sliding. Hooking i ran like 9.4 when i figerd it out. Then i did cold air and throttle body and 315 on the back and i am at 8.9's now and when they put down the sticky for the test and tune nights i pulled a high 8.7 i always said gripping is the best thing for us mustangs...

My mods are in my signature, my friend's 94 cobra has eibach drag springs, o/r H pipe with borla exhuast, tremec tranny with steed triax shifter, 73 mm mass air, 3.73 gears. He has more drag racing expierence then me and he has beat me by .2 tenths. It is always a good race our cars are pretty close.

my friends 95 cobra has 4.30 gears, an air filter, off road H, and a flowmaster cat back an he gets beat by my other friend with a 88 gt with a cobra intake, ported heads, bbk shorty headers, off road H, flowmaster cat back, 373s and an air filter. there both very good drivers so idk how the gt always wins

well i'm sure he does. 4:30's on a 5.0 cobra. Jesus christ. He must spin through 4rth. He shoulda gone 4:10's or lower if it has street tires or even DR's.

the cobra was on drag radials, the gt was on ****ty tires, the cobra isnt all spinning either, they usualy pretty even then once then get up to speed the gt pulls like 2 cars.

you will take him... the RPM II is way too much of an intake without a cam / head setup that can take advantage of that... you're looking at an intake that wants to significantaly raise the power band and a cam shaft that has peak horse around 4200 and peak trq around 3200. His combo, which I'm sure gets up and goes, is still not very well matched.

If you're both similarly good drivers, I would put money on you, no doubt.

Is your cobra still a fat beast? With the weight of our cars compared to the weight of the old foxes it should be close.
However with a good driver good shifting a little less weight (very little gas, take out all the floor mats rear seat etc.) you should take him all day. Also with the better flowing heads we have and the fat intake he has it shouldnt be a problem. Good luck.
