I need Cams......

stage 3 if you want most agressive, you will need exhaust/intake/ecu upgrade as well. I'm not sure how streetable this will be. If this is for a street car stage 3 might be overkill. I plan on going stage 1 or2 myself.

The Comp XE278AH's have not been successfully installed in a stock shortblock as far as I know from reading various forums. Due to the long duration and .550" lift, piston to valve contact is almost a given unless you have deeper reliefs on your pistons. There is at least one member at Modular Depot that is running the 278s, but he has a built shortblock that has all the right clearances to run the cams.

Depending on what year Mustang you have and what heads, you may have to narrow your choices down. For example, a NPI shortblock with PI heads is a recipe for disaster with Comp 270s or higher.

bigger isn't always necesssarily better when it comes to cams. getting the most power out of a cam depends on your engine, your mods and how you drive.

like nick said, if you want to go with a comp 278 (and i've heard about it with comp's stage 2 cam as well), you're going to need a built shortblock as well.

what year

Hey,what year is your mustang? If it is a 96-98 then you wouldnt be able to get anything bigger than some vt stage 2's or you will have piston to valve problems like me.And i only had 270's.

I have a 2000 GT 4.6L and the engine is stock........ my mods are C&L Plenum, InletPipe,MAF and a BBK75 MM TB for the intake and im runnin ProChamber with Mac Catback..... I will be putting 4.10s in soon and getting a tune soon :nice:

If you are really serious about cams, wait on the tune. There's no reason to spend the money twice IMHO.
