Racing Stripes?? To do or not to do?

well, it depends on car color. The only color that would look good on a silver car would be black (and that's pushing it, imo). Also, painting them on would probably be better, as the vinyl stuff, if not taken care of, will peel and/or crack after some time.

personally i think "racing" stripes are exhausted. the only time i see them around where i live is on old guys cars that still have the mind set of the 60's, or on (no offense) the cheap mexican's cars. in some cases they can look nice, but on new stangs i dont think they are very necessary. the car already looks awesome, why add something that might make it look cheesy, and have people laugh as you cruise thinkin yur looking good? i like the better on the 60's stangs. just my 0.02

Rocker panel stripes are something to consider as well...I've got white year-specific ones (ie the 2002-only style) on my '02 True Blue Mustang, and I love 'em. Vinyl holds up well...just be careful when washing around it, and don't wax over it.

Re the retro styling cues, I've always found it interesting how on this board it's often quite arbitrary as to what's acceptable and what's not. Lots of people feel that stripes belong only on classic Mustangs, yet nobody ever says that about the Bullitt Torque Thrust D-style wheels. Yet both are currently available from Ford...go figure.

well for some reason..the c stripe looks good and i now wonder what that would look like...

They don't laught at me as I'm cruising because I will spray nitrous in their eyes :rlaugh: (Of course my car is as dead as a door nob right now, so they should be laughing :bang: )

But when she was alive....

I like them if they are the right color on the car. For example black car with gold stripes, white car with blue stripes, red with white. On 99+ I like the 10" wide stripes. I'd recommend the Bob White decals. They are great quality and you can always remove them if you decide you don't like them. For a silver car I'd like either a darker blue, black, or a deep red. Just my opinion.

I think racing stripes look good on late model stangs. For a silver car, black or dark grey stripes would be best. If they were painted on it would look nicer, but the vinyl ones are cheaper and removable if needed.

well I am on the fence...some occasions they look great but then there are some where it looks god awful. If you do decide to do it go with vinyl. When done correctly they don't peel crack and all the other stuff that was said. Plus if you don't like it or you grow tired of it you just peel it right off and it was like they were never there.
