If you could tell Ford what to 'touch up' on the 05...

First...

I would have them smoke the tacky 'mustang' side stripe or come up with a better design...it looks like crap... :notnice:

Second...

Add some actual side scoops. We all know they aren't functional but even the classic '60s era had some assemblance of them...

Third...

Some color keyed mirrors would be a nice touch. They don't have to paint the whole thing, but when they introduced the fold-away, color-keyed ones on the '03 Cobra and continued them with '04 40th Anniversay Package, it really set the car off right. :nice:

Fourth...

I think the back end is just a little too bare. Maybe a nice 'honeycomb' style insert in between the taillights would be good. Or maybe a rear bumper redesign to reincorporate the 'MUSTANG' imprint so these honda guys can know what beat em! Possibly a spoiler redesign? LOL! : :flag:

Fifth...

The classic spoked rims with the spinners looked good on the classic but doesnt quite fit the bill on the '05. At least with that much sidewall blaring at you on the tires. All the major car companies these days are running a minimum of 17's on their cars now. So, maybe a standard 17 in package for V6s and GT Deluxe with an optional 18 in upgrade with the GT Premiums. If you can get a set of stock, good-looking, 17in rims on a freakin' Mazda 3...why not a Mustang?

In Conclusion, the overall appearance looks awesome and poses tons of potential for aftermarket goodies. However, the little things can REALLY help the car remain a classic. I personally think the hottest cars are always the ones that look as 'stock as possible.'

P.S. (O.T.) Although the Ford truck/SUV line is hot and the Mustang is a good car...Somebody PUH-LEASSSSEEE tell Ford that their other cars fall waaaay behind the curve on looks and performance (i.e. Crown Vic, Focus, Five-Hundred). When compared to Acura, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and even Dodge and GM vehicles (especially Pontiac). Ford is seriously faltering!!! Maybe they should start to take a little more ideas from their 30% of Mazda shares and bring some of their stuff here? :notnice:

That's just my opinion...I could be wrong!

i would tell them to build the concept ;). But seriously I would like a little harder edge on the hockey stick like the concept and I would like to ditch the plastic cover over the headlights (the gt-r's were awesome) and I would try some different hoods for the GT and above.

The hood on the concept would be perfect for a GT....and it's not like it would cost Ford millions in making or researching the thought.....They're gonna make tons of cash when dealers get away with jacking the price over $5k over MSRP, anyway.

1. I agree the Mustang vinyl stripe isn't the best looking thing out there.

2. Not that I neccessarily disagree. But have you looked at a regular 60's gt recently? They had dseigns inside the area. But only Shelby's had real scoops.

3. I agree. Color keyed mirrors would have looked better.

4. While someone in the aftermarket will create the honeycomb piece. And I might even consider buying it. I am happy that it doesn't have "mustang" imprinted on the rear bumper. To me if a honda guy doesn't know what beat him. Then he's too dumb to need to know (Of course that is merely a personal opinion).

5. There will be an optional 18" wheel for the gt. The wish I have for the wheels is making the halibrand style on the V6. In a 17 or 18 for the gt. Give it a more classic look. The torque thrusts are good. But getting a little old (To me at least).

6. Yes I agree with the GT-R headlights. It would definately be a nice touch.

7. I would also like to see the concept's taillights. I know I am in a slight minority on that. But I like the look a little better.

Overall I love the car. And I will definately be buying one.

Gotta agree with you all on here...build the concept! The side scoops looked sweet on the concept. While the side window scoops probably not implemented for safety reasons, they do look great. The combination of the side and window scoops gave great lines to the car and it looked down-right badass. I also liked the combination of the turn signal lights on the concept also.

For these reasons, I am going continue to throw all my money into my '65 coupe and wait until '06 to grab a GT or special edition.

later,

Chris

I'm one of those minorities that want the concept taillights. I think they look awsome on the Mustang.

just went to check out an '05 GT auto this morning, it looks amazing in person, saying that there are a few minor things I'd change.

The hood would look amazing with a scoop (even fake) or a shaker. Put some side scoops on the GT, maybe have them as a package on the base model. The 17" wheels honestly look pretty good with the car, the sidewalls are still a little big but nothing some 18s couldn't fix easily.

The things I love about the '05, the seats are amazing, the ergonomics are 10 times better than my '04 and the rear seats just look sexy, although useless. Something that struck me odd, the new 4.6 looks a lot like an LS1...

Last thing I hated, the damn Ford pain has orange peel all over it, GM has better paint on the freaking cavalier :nonono:

overall I'm pleasantly suprised, I went in expecting to be disappointed and ended up leaving excited and ready for the '07 cobra

Rebuild the entire ass end. It ruins the car.

Exactly. I'd ask them to fix the rear shape - its too rounded, and do something with the spoiler. Thje concept looked better.

I dont want to see mufflers hanging down under them bumper like a freakin accord or something.

The HUGE fog lights in the grill look silly on the GT if you ask me. They look really cheap. The lights on the GTR looked so much better.

I honestly think that 300hp isnt enough. I dont see how they can sell us a less powerful motor than the current Mach1.

Rims = yawn

I think there should be a factory option for a build motor. Just the same engine with strong internals for an extra 1500 or something. That would REALLY encourage the aftermarket for boost applications. I guess SVT might not like that though.

Ford doesn't make any more money when the dealer jacks the price up... the dealer makes more money. Ford sells it to dealers at a lower price, the dealers then can try and sell it for whatever they want... if they want to put it at $500,000 they can. Ford doesn't see any extra money.

HOOD, Hood, hOOD, hOoD, HoOD and maybe a better hood. Hell, have a functional ram air hood as a $1000 option.

Lower it an inch.

18" wheels with tires at least 255.

Duck's ass for a rear "wing"

Well proportioned Hookers, Stripers, hoochies and :taco:s oil wrestling for a chance to ride in it.

And maybe a different hood.

haven't seen one in the flesh yet, but could live without the surf board on the the rear deck. Would like a shaker style hood just for fun, but more of a sleeper image, with a few more color choice's, like maybe highland green. Then a radical cam with a deep throat exhaust. :D
I must be a throw back.

The car is just about perfect in the way it looks. Side scoops? Why? Are we going to cool the rear breaks?

Fake scoops? Yuuukkkk. Real scoops? Only if they serve performance.

The design is nearly flawless. The car is gorgeous, and people do dumb things in traffic to get a better view. Seriously, Ford nailed this design.

The only thing I would change right now is the sound the turn signal makes. It sounds like someone cracking their knuckles by pulling on their fingers.
