STALL CONVERTER Q'S

I'll have my 4.10's installed by monday. I'm doing the J-Mod to my tranny tommorow. I'm thinking of getting a converter but i don't know what to get. I drive my car like i stole it everyday. I have no remorse with gas pedal. i know it isn't the fastest but i would like it to be. what should I get 3000? 2400? and how hard is it to do? would I have to get a custom chip? thanks stangnet

I'll be doing with one of my friends. His dad is a car nut. He'll be helping me. His dad did it to his 99gt. his car and my car shift way different now. hopefully nothing will come up and prevent me from doing it. later

If you had some aftermarket cams in that thing, I'd go with the 3000. But I think as it sits a 2400 will be enough. Might want to consider an after market cooler too. As I recall, the install is about the same as a clutch - maybe a little easier - haven't run an auto in a long time.

I have stock cams, and mine is a 3200 PI Stallion converter. I wouldnt go any less than that. This is my daily driver, so I dont think I'd go any higher than that. I've got 4.10's also, and this thing is pretty fun to drive around. It takes off hard now. With street tires (275/40's) it spins all the way through 1st, chirps 2nd, and goes. About the J-mod...set it up for the highest power level if you want it to shift pretty firm, because the converter will make the shifts pretty mushy. I still have stock line pressures in the transmission and the 2nd-3rd shift is just a little harder than stock even with the j-mod set up on the hardest setting, because of the 3200 stall. If you dont get a converter, the hardest setting will be pretty harsh for around town driving. If you do get one though, you'll need some sticky tires for the track because street tires won't do it. Anyway, hope I helped a little. Good luck :flag:
