I believe is still have the stock H-pipe. (Does a 90 GT stock come with an H-Pipe?) Anyways if it is stock it will say Ford on it correct? Also If it is stock I am going to get a new H-pipe but I dont know what brand yet. Also I plan on getting new headers. Let me know what I should do and if I should even bother getting a new h pipe.

an H pipe is a good investment. All 5.0's as far as i know have Hpipes. I know for sure all fuel injected ones did. if its stock, it will have 4 catalyitc converters on it. They will be a little smaller then normal cats. 2 will be near the H and the other 2 will be up by the collectors closer to the exhaust manifold.

For an aftermarket H-pipe, i suggest the BBK catted H. Its a little more expensive then the off road version (which is not emissions legal and has no cats) but you dont have to worry about if you'll pass inspection or not and you wont smell like fumes as much (my g/f always bitched about that). For headers, it depends on what you wanna do with the car. If you plan on H/C/I later on, go for some longtubes. If you just plan on maybe a throttle body, go for equal shorties.

Decide this now though, because if you get shorties now and decide to get longtubes later, you'll have to get a different H-pipe.

hope this helps

The stock h-pipe and headers are the best combo for 5.0's until you get to 270HP. I wish I didnt change my headers. If you take them off you lose alot of bottom end torque.Save your money and get a really good cat-back system :nice: I have a Bassani and it sounds awsome!!! I also like spintech,,borla,,flowmaster,,theres alot of good ones out there :nice:

I don't know about that. When my car was basically stock I had a best mph of 91.25. All I did after that was add underdrive pulleys and full exhaust (1 5/8" headers, 2 1/2" OR h pipe, and 2 1/2" catback) and my mph jumped to 95.89. Pretty good power gain if you ask me.

Yep...that is an exhaust gain :nice:

Get some shorties, offroad H, and any muffler really...(flows, mac, etc...)...and they will flow nicely when you add more power later on...

the equal lengths really arent worth the extra hassle of installing vs. the shorties. I would just get the shorties. Here, let me post one of my patended dyno runs i have some headers:
5.0 - Mods
X303
Extrude Hone Ported Dart Windsor Heads (milled to 53cc, 2.02/1.60 valves)
Extrude Hone Ported Cobra Intake (upper/lower)
24#injectors
ProM 77mm MAF
1.6 rr

Get some BBK longtubes (less drone than shorties) w/ matching longtube H, and some catback...
BBK long tubes will not make any more power than shorties due to the collector.
A friend of mine just had this happen to him when switching from FRPP shorties to BBK 1 5/8 long tubes on his 331 stroker. So he tried the 1 3/4 long tubes and the result was the same. So he cut off the collector and welded on race style collectors and ended up picking up 15 RWHP. But remember this was on a N/A 331 making 405 RWHP so the results would be less on less of a motor.

Longtubes give you better midrange...dynos have proven that...I've seen the graphs...on a h/c/i car with shorties and then longtubes...

I personally am sticking with my shorties...I was telling him to go ahead and get them...it will be nice with a blower car later on (if his mods keep growing)...and if he don't want to lower the car to much...

Longtubes with the correct collector. YES.
BBK long tubes with the stock ball joint collector. NO.

I have owned both MAC long tubes and BBK's. The MAC's made more power but the quality and fit was poor. :notnice: The BBK's fit perfectly but made no more power. Also the BBK's hang low.

Another note is that both the MAC's and BBK's increased the under hood temps tremendously. The BBK's were ceramic coated the MAC's were not.
The MAC's were hotter and made the car louder under the hood due to the thinner gauge pipe. The BBK's were not as hot as the MAC's but still a lot hotter than shorties and were quieter under the hood because they were thicker gauge.

That coupled with making it harder to change clutches left me to go back to shorties. I will leave the Long Tubes for race cars.

I'm not for sure which longtubes they were but they had a decent gain in the midrange...BBK wouldn't be so popular just because their fit...also because their price is decent and they flow nice out of the "box"...its expected to get hot under the hood...the extra temp doesn't bother me...might others...
