Ok, that's my engine lay out. # is the compression number and the color detail is the spark plug condition.

Please let me know as many scenerios as possible that that fits. It can hold an idle if I gas it. Misses, backfires and sputters.... aparently due to those numbers we just saw. DOES NOT SMOKE though.

The guy that had it before me, had aluminum heads on, he switched back to stock before I got it(I knew that already). Is that ANY condition of a blown/not seated headgasket? I have a sinking feeling of cracked pistons or rings. Would ****ty heads and bad gasket do this also? Any help is apreciated.

looks like the left side is fine, but you obviously have issues on your right side. I had the same thing and it was head gaskets, but my #5 has a bad ring and so that cyclinder only pushes 90psi, up from the 40 before head gasket swap.

A leak down test would tell you more since it would push the air in there and tell you how much escapes.

You're supposed to be able to put a cap full of oil in the spark plug hole and retest...if the compression goes up, that indicates a bad ring since the oil is helping it seal.

Good luck and have fun. If you end up replacing head gaskets, you should buy my Fel Pro 1011-2's...they're recommended by a lot of people on here and they're still in the packages because I never used them. PM Me if interested
