This . is a period.
This , is a comma.
This ? is a question mark.
Use them. Plus, you are allowed to speak gramatically correct on StangNet, so don't be afraid to do so.

Go to search in the 6'er forums and search exhaust.

I've mentioned that several times. The SEARCH yields either NO results or utter CRAP results. If you can take the time to tell someone to use a non-functioning SEARCH feature then take the damn time to give them an answer. Ugh. I'm so tired of being directed to use a stupid SEARCH feature. Why bother having a forum?

Duals don't sound bad on a 6 as long as you have a CAI (cold air intake) to back it up. Better intake flow will equal better exhaust sound. I had 40 series flowmasters on my 2000 and it was cool.

Well...most people would say that if you want true duals and you want it to sound good...get a V8 Mustang, heh.

As for GT Takeoff's modified for a V6, I personally don't think it sounds loud enough. You get a throaty sound...but no real rumble.

Go with some Super 40's from Flowmaster...I got em on mine and it just sounds mean, I like it. But that is just my opinion.

I went with CDC's side exhaust for looks, and was surprised to hear how good the Dynomax mufflers sounded. Not exactly throaty, but loud, and I get some nice gurgles in there! Mmmm... Guurrgglessss.... AAArrgghhhhhh....

when I had my 98 I had a Mac o/r h-pipe with american thunder flows and it sounded awsome. I didn't have any tailpipes, dumps after the mufflers. I got a lot of interior sound but it sounded awsome. A lot of people thought it sounded really good for a v6.

If you're going to go with dual make it a true dual. If you want a mean sound, go with 2.5in tubing all the way until you get to the tips. 3in tips are nice, as far as mufflers go, I have the MAC muffs, but I've heard magnaflow, Mac, Bassani, and Flowmaster and I have to say they all sound different, some louder, some more disguinshed, and some awful in the upper rpms, but awesome in the lower. If you want more of both, I'd go with super 40 flows. Or if you really wanna turn heads, install 2 cats, not muffs. i had a friend that did that and got away with it. Note: Will be extremly loud and pisses everyone off. Cop MAGNET! :p

how much was it for that side exhaust and did you run it under the side skirts or cut a hole

The CDC Side Exhaust kit for all 94+ Mustangs is $699, but I got mine for less when Stagnet had a sale on them. That is a pretty good price although it is the side skirts that cost a ton a money. This system is a catback design that includes the skirts. The exhaust tips are painted black and are stainless steel. The tips fit right inside the openings in the skirts and stick out about 1/2 an inch. I attached mine so they stick out almost an inch though. That's just personal choice.

I am thinking of getting a duals for my 98. I would like to get a true dual setup with an "H" pipe and cat back but I can't see putting $680 in the exhaust. From my research I have seen about $350 for a MAC "H" pipe and then about $330. For only $300 I can get a MAC dual exhaust conversion that would hook to the factory "Y" pipe.

Is there a lease exspensive way to get true duals ? Does anybody have any experiance getting a custom exhaust shop to make true duals.

Got my prices from

Be prepared to spend that much if your gonna go with a high performance exhaust system like MAC or Magnaflow. I personally just wanted the look and sound and of course did not have 500 to 700 to drop into a exhaust. So I pretty much scanned message board after message board and found a GT Take Off from the headers back in excellent shape that I picked up for $50 locally. Then one of my neighboors notices I have a Mustang now and gives me his old 2002 GT Stock Exhaust he had laying in his garage for free. I sold that 2002 GT stock exhaust to pay for the install for the original GT exhaust system I picked up for $50

I ended up going to a custom exhaust shop nearby and the dude wanted $400 to install the GT Take off exhaust! I ran out of there laughing and asked around to find a "hole in the wall" muffler shop in a small town nearby to me. They installed the GT Take Off Exhaust for $75 which included any hangers that had to be made and modifications.

Hope that helps paint a picture on cost ...

299.99 Dollars from mustang warehouse on ebay... "But It Now"
This Included:
MAC Dual Catback Exhaust
Hangars
Shipping

This is back when the MAC exhausts for the six were coated a silver color and the "tips" ran from in front of the rear axle on back. Then New ones are Black and have ~6 inch tips (still 2.5 throughout)

We installed it ourself, so the install = Free, and of course we know it was done right.
(Really Easy if you have the free time, tools, and enough jacks and supporter thingies)

Is that a true dual or does that connect to the "Y" pipe. I have enough jack stands and jack and I know I could do it myself. I want a true dual from the headers back.

Are you saying a stock GT exhaust fits the V6 ? I didn't think everything lined up right ?

You might want to check into just piecing the whole thing together.

If you want true duals, or even an H-pipe, then get an H-pipe that is made for cat-back conversions. Go buy the mufflers you want, and then have a shop fab the thing up.

Awhile ago, I was at Dr. Gas's site and they had complete kits that just needed to be welded.

Check into going that route as well.

Your other option is to get a cat back system for a GT and then have a shop make a custom H-pipe, or just weld in two staigh pieces of pipe for a true dual system.
