I have 2000 V6 Auto, 3.73 gears. Car has a shudder in park and in neutral. Usually increases with RPm as it rises between about 650 to 1000.
I had the exhaust system checked twice and no problem there. Stuck some Lucas in the trans, no change. Trans fluid is clean. The shudder has become so bad that I can feel it shaking me in the drivers seat. The transmission was replaced at 59,000 miles and now has 67,000 miles. Garage that replaced transmission said it was probably motor mounts.
Any body have any suggestions.

Possibly drive shaft out of balance. Other thing I noticed is you have 3.73 gears. Did you swap them or change the whole rear end? If differential wasn't shimmed properly, may be a cause and probably need new gears.

I haven't checked the drive shaft, not sure other than looking for slack in
connections what to expect. Gears were done 3 years ago with no problems until this month. Shudder is coming from engine/transmission area. Makes me think it might either be torque converter or motor mounts. Need to get to a
dealership to take a look I think?

if the shudder is in park or N it is not the DS

does it feel like a miss?

open your hood, have a buddy stand in front of your car (off to one side) and apply the brakes, put it in D and slowly apply the gas. if you have a bad mount your friend should be able to see strange movement
