more heat only if it's a completely open filter, just the snorkel removed dosen't hurt.
Tom is right!
It amazes me at how many people think that having an exposed filter behind the headlight is always sucking in hot engine bay air. Hey guys have you noticed that big hole in the front of the car just below the hood? It's to let air travel through the radiator and then travel across the engine and down under the car. The lower air-dam on all cars now days actually serves a purpose by causing a low pressure area just behind it so all the heat the engine produces is sucked out from under the hood.
Of course when you come to a red light that effect ceases to excist until you start moving, usually around 35mph.
There is nothing wrong with removing the snorkel from the fender well.
Hell I took a Dremel and decapitated my air box. Now any and all air coming through the headlight housing, especially when I take it out at the track, has a straight shot to the filter. Poor mans Ram-Air!!!
