Car is popping/backfiring on new H/C/I

I just finished my new engine/tranny install last night. I bought the whole engine/tranny with most the mods from a kid who had it on a show car and then wrecked it. There is no damage that I could see. He had a blower on it too, but it is not on there now. It has all the mods in my sig. Anyway, when it gets halfway warm it starts popping and backfiring to the point where it will basically die. If I hold the idle at about 1500 it doesn't backfire at all, nor does it backfire when I am driving down the highway, but definitely lacks power. I tried adjusting my timing, but it didn't help matters, I tried everything from 10-20 degrees, but still pops/backfires. It is running very rich as I can see the black on the conrete from the exhaust. Also, I kept getting shocked from a wire on the distributor when I was adjusting the timing, pretty sure it was the coil wire, but this might be something unrelated  . Could the backfiring be plugs, wires, or maybe the coil, is this probable? I am waiting for O2 extensions for my sensors to come in, should be here tomorrow, but I wouldn't think that no O2 sensors would make it backfire like that. I had a feeling everything wasn't going to go too smooth, Murphy's Law, ya know :bang: I already figured out that I cracked a nossle on the heater core and found coolant on the water pump also. :nonono: When it rains, it pours. Thanks for any input at all!

Could be a couple things. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere that could cause it to backfire and pop. You could also have the distributor 180 out. I'd go back through and just make sure that everything was bolted up nice and tight, etc.

Trigger, I am about 97% sure the distributor is in right. I made sure I marked everything....rotor, dist, and balancer on motor to be sure, but anything is possible. Would it even start though if it was 180 degrees off? I tried to double check all the vac. lines, but once again, by no means am I perfect  THanks, I will double check those things though. Anybody else?

do you have your o2s in if not that would do it my smog tube was taken off the sock exhaust and that little hole made mine do it

im 90 percent shure its your o2s no i dont think your car would start if it was 180 out

shttygtstang, no I do not have the O2's hooked up, but they are installed in the holes so there are no open holes. I also have that smog hose hooked up. I am hoping that when I get the extensions for the O2's for my long tubes that it helps.

Mizark347, the intake seal is possible but I just put brand new intake on and made sure I torqued to Trick Flow's specs and also used Fel-Pros gaskets.

Does anyone have any ideas? Also, would my car even start if the distributor was put in wrong 180 degrees? I guess I am going to start with changing the plugs and wires.....

Yes your car would start if it was a 180 off it would run like you are saying it is. It sounds to me like it is either a 180 off or a couple of teeth off. Also check to see if your upper intake is flush on the lower intake if it is not you can have a vacuum leak and that would also make it run like that. check those two things

O2 Sensors would not do much if anything other than make your engine light come on 180 off would barely start & would basically be impossible to run, my suggestion would be try setting the fuel pressure correctly cause if you said he had a blower & if you did not compensate fuel for the difference now without it.

Thanks guys, those are all logical solutions and I will check the things you said. I was also wondering, could this be the result of a cracked distributor cap maybe? Couldn't this let moisture in and cause the problems I am having. I appreciate all the responses because I need all the help I can get.
