i'm torn on how i feel, it is nice but certainly not the drastic difference like the current cars with the Saleen treatment.

can't really tell in the photo about side rocker panels, they might look a bit too busy for my tastes. kinda like somehting you'd bolt on a civic. i like the hood vents, those are cool.

and it needs a more aggressive looking exhaust. a little too subtle.

Not radical enough. My first impression is I don't like it. That's right. I said it! And what's with losing one of the three tailight bars? I just dunno. Maybe it's just me.
I would much rather have that wingless, badass white with blue stripe Ford crate motor with Fiske wheel plain jane racecar.
Damn.

Very well said...I feel dame there the same as you :nice:

I'm with you Marcus. I'm not crazy about it either. Is it just me, or do those wheels look like something off of a Chrysler? Also, the tires seem a little skinny. Compared to the 04's, it is definately "plain jane". I personally would rather buy a new one in plane jane white, dark leather, with the Bullit wheels. I'd drop it, put some blue stripes down it, tint the windows, and buy the aftermarket deep dish bullits for the back. Then wait to see what aftermarket goodies show up for the car. Also, I can't stand the grill. It looks cheap and Vega like to me (big and plastic). I like the look of the driving lights in there.

Did you guys notice that there are a "real" set of tailpipes w/ turndowns on the car. I hope this doesn't mean that the rectangular chrome center exhaust is non-functional...

Maybe the mufflers are a variable capacity design similar to what Nissan (and maybe others) have used for several years. It could be that under certain loads, the other pipe opens up to reduce backpressure.

Has anyone noticed that the spoiler looks awfully similar to the one they used on the 99-2000 s351 and current extreme models. I hate to nitpick, but it was designed for a completely different car, and they just slap it on the new one. Any opinions on this?

RE: The exhaust

It is what Saleen is calling "Dual on demand exhaust pipes"

For day to day driving the engine flows through the two main pipes in the rear center, but when you jump on the gas a valve opens allowing the exhaust to exit thru two additional pipes that are tucked up and under, the ones coming off the mufflers.

Due to D.O.T. “pass by” testing requirements Saleen had to turn the secondary pipes downward at the tips so the sound was bounced off the pavement rather than flowing straight out the rear.

Thus is the problem of being a "Manufacturer" vs a "Tuner".

You know... my dream car was the SSC fox and then the S351. The S281E came out and replaced it. I love that car. I was really looking forward to this Saleen because I love the new Mustang...

This car looks like a ricer got hold of a BMW to me. It just seems tacked on. There's no flow like on the previous models. It seems like they tried to carry over too much of the angular body style from the previous model. It would have worked if Ford hadn't totally redesigned the Stang, but this... this is a dissappointment.

Maybe the 2nd Gen will be better...
