i am thinking to get rid of the gt and go with 03-04 cobra in the end of spring next year.

i know that performance wise the cobra will destroy the gt. that is when driven to both cars full potential, or at the track when reaching speeds over 100 mph.

how different are the to on the street, every day driving? is it a huge difference, can someone explain the difference to me to seal the deal so to speak! make me make up my mind for sure.

does the car handle and break much better.

how about pick up is it sluggish down low or in first or second gear due to the weight increase and the higher power band?

thanks for any opinions :nice:

on the street, 03 cobras are way better IMHO. more power, better handling, add up to make them so much more fun. i used to have an 03 GT, and now I have an 01 cobra, but I've driven 03 cobras and I love them.

GT - 260hp @ 5750, 302tq @ 4000
COBRA - 390hp @ 6500, 390tq @ 3500

Now lay the graphs atop one another. Normal driving is form idle to maybe 3500rpm. Which one do you see as better?

Solid vs. IRS - I like my car to hug the road and step out only when told. Maybe you like your car all over the place?

Brakes - Well it is a mustang. Not known for having the best binders in the stable, but the snakes do work a little better. Excellent peddle feel with the SVT as well.

Conclusion - Are you a moron? Ofcourse the Cobra is better. It doesnt matter where you are or how you drive it. (granny does love my old GT though.)

I agree with everything posted sofar- you just need to test drive one for yourself. You'll want to get rid of your GT in an instant. An 03 cobra will just blow a GT away in the same fashoin your GT will blow minivans and the like, to smithereens. GT's and Cobras only look similar. Performance wise, they are a completely different beast.

Go drive one- you'll see what were talking about. :) Don't blame us when you want to sell your GT right away, hehe.

For me, street performance involves mostly first and second gear. I've driven 98,99,01 and 03 cobras and an 03 and 04 Mach I. They all seemed much stronger than the one 02 GT I drove and not that much diffenent from each other in first and second from a SOTP feel. I could say the same for the one 01SS camaro I drove.

If money is an issue, you might want to consider an 01 cobra, or 99, and set some money asside for 410s, catback, cold air intake and a set of sticky tires. You will have a great street machine. Wheel hope is an issue in some cases for these years but the sticky tires help a lot.

money is somwhat of an issue, but i think i can handle it. the thing is im only willing to spend the extra cash if there is a big noticeable difference.

otherwise i dont care if its a gt or a cobra i just want flawless performance.
