serpentine pulleys

I concure with the above statment. When I bought my engine the pulleys were not the right ones for it and I couldn't find any. So I ponyed up the 500$ and got the ultra set up for serp conversion. It looks awesome with the new fan and polished everything :D

Got mine from the junkyard. They cleaned up really nicely.

The only problem is he is working on a 385 series engine and finding one of those in the junkyard with serpentine pulleys on them will be difficult considering they only made them a few years in trucks.....and those may not even work or look well in a Mustang.

why would theyshow this?

sorry for the hijack but does a serp. pulley kit offer any enhanced performance benefits or is it just for dress up?
V belts suck. Yes, serpentine is a huge improvement.
1. The tensioner automatically keeps the belt the proper tightness.
2. One belt rather than several.
3. Less slipping.
4. It's very easy to replace a serpentine belt, just put a wrench on the idler, pull to loosen the belt and pull it off or install.

Far superior in every way IMO.

Here is my setup... It is a combination of stock mustang pulleys and march brackets...

This is how 12sec67 and I have our setup, except no tensioner. The belt runs up the pump and straight to the alt. Belts are cheaper too when they are only 40.1 in. :D

Hack

I have to agree with you and that is why I did the conversion. Very simple and straight forward swap...
I've owned an '89 GT and several late '80s and early '90s Ford V8 cars/pickups - as well as my Mustang and other assorted older stuff that used V belts. The serpentine is really a joy to work with compared to every V belt set up I've personally had to fix.

Your engine looks terrific. Thanks for the picture, I saved it for future reference - I need to rig up some brackets for my 351c I will be putting into my car next spring.
