ok how can you identify a Limited Slip rear if there is no ID tag on the cover and the cover isnt removed? with the axle jacked up in the air, i can spin the driver wheel and the pass wheel spins the opposite direction, is that not an LS rear? i was told thats its not tonight. reason i ask, is that i can stomp it, and leave pos marks, but if i try to do a burnout im a one wheel wonder, which i thought meant the clutches were going bad. if dude is right then it looks as though i get to spend more money that i had planned. so someone explain this to me please....

thanks

yep. also with some limited slip diffs, if only one wheel is in the air (in neutral, brake off), if one spins the airborne tire, it has a decent amount of resistance (posi working as it should).

no its an 8.8, it came from a 94 Ranger with a 4.0L. but heres what i now dont understand. this morning i went over to the guys house that i bought this axle from, asked if he still had the tag and told him the deal. he said it WAS an LS. he went a found the tag and gave it to me it had this on it.

so im still feeling like im still gettin the shaft somehow on this, so i think im gonna pop the rear cover off and look for myself. so, what am i lookin for? lol

If its a tracloc you will see a big S spring in the middle and you should see the clutch pack. If Its a standard planetary diff you will see nothing but spur gears. Its pretty obvious...you'll know.
