I'm happy for you.....but, too retro IMO...if I want a REAL 70ish Mach 1 I will by one from the 70's. Looks like I will keep my '03 Cobra and/or switch over to The Heartbeat of America's showpiece....new Vette. Disappointed with Ford...they took it too far!!!!! :notnice:

I'm with you man 100%, FORD went too far on this one!!! :nonono:

And the best news!!! It will only cost you about 15-20 grand more!!!!

Not a problem........I would rather pay it than to buy/drive something I deem ugly. I would probably still keep my '03 (love it!) :nice: ...............

The new Vette has some nicer crisper styling than the C5, and an improved interior (although it's still cheapie-looking and uninspired for the money), and obviously the performance is hot, BUT..... It looks even worse than ever from the side, where the car suffers from flat-out goofy proportion and balance. I don't know if the wheels are too far back, or the tail is chopped off too short, or some combo of both, but since '97 the Corvette simply has not been a beautiful car. Not even close. The C4 was the last 'Vette that looked great, inside and out, at every angle. The C2 was the best looking ever. Not to turn this into a 'Vette thread, just stating that I wouldn't want one at practically any price just because it's homely. I think the Mustang's design works much better aesthetically. Congrats on the new GT!!! I thought the same thing also the 1st time I saw your pic. Whenever I order a new car, I tell the dealer in writing that if they drill my bumper, they own it, I won't take it (Actually, I tell them that if they touch it in any way in dealer prep, they're dead...). But maybe you live in a front bumper license plate state??

To each his own! I like the looks of the new Vette alot better than the new and older looking Mustang :notnice: .

Yes, to each his own. To me, the new Vette is kinda like a girl who's totally hot, except she's got this wierd-shaped man-like butt, such that you just can't stop staring at it and obsessing/stressing over it.... That's where I'm stuck with the Vette. She looks good, but I can't keep from staring at the goofy rear and getting the creeps from it.. Because of packaging around the current underpinnings/platform, I'll likely have to wait for an "all-new" Vette to address my styling complaints.

styling complaints? why not wait for the new Cobra??

IMHO vettes are highly over rated...every one i see is drivin by some old guy..or id guess ..not any younger then 30-35...and most of them seem so stuck up...they dont ever get on it...its like they dont know how to drive them or something..iv pulled up to vettes before and reved and the guys just kinda look over and then look straight and ignore me..wtf?? not to mention i think the newer vettes resemble some sort of futuristic space ship of some sort...and are way over done...is it really nessesary for the car to be 3 1/2 feet tall? come on...

also...the performance of the vette is nice..but not that nice....buy a stang and put the money into the stang that you saved from buying the vette and buy buy vette....BUT also IMHO...as much as i love the 05 stangs..i would not give up a 03/04 cobra for one....BUT haha...if the 06/07 cobras were awsome enough...i would....

i want a car thats fairly quick...looks good...has potential for future upgrades and dosnt break the bank...and that i dont have to ROLL out of

O.K., in the defense of Corvette owners everywhere....

Wow, what a surprise, on a car that has a base price of $45K.... What do you expect?????
and most of them seem so stuck up...they dont ever get on it...its like they dont know how to drive them or something..
No, they've got a little more class than to be beating on their cars everywhere they go like a teenage kid, as if it's the first fast car they ever owned.
iv pulled up to vettes before and reved and the guys just kinda look over and then look straight and ignore me..wtf??
Yes, they are trying their damdest to ignore you. I try to ignore most cars that pick fights with me on the street, as they are usually people in cars that wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of beating me anyway. Street racing is an EXTREME risk. Aside from the safety aspect of launching through the gears in an extremely fast car, you've got the real risk of HEAVY tickets for racing, reckless driving, etc.etc... Not the kind of thing you want on your record when you're paying insurance on a Vette. Now I'm no saint, and I've had some good street races in my time, but I'm really choosy about where and what I race. I don't waste my time on ANYTHING that doesn't appear to be worth my while. Most Vette drivers are more interested in just getting where they're going, not getting drawn into some silly and risky contest that they already know they'll likely take unless it's an 03-04 Cobra, or they can hear an aftermarket blower whining.

Lastly, the Corvette is a true sports car, the Mustang is not. You obviously don't want a sportscar, and the compromises that come with one. That's fine. It doesn't make the Corvette "worse" than a Mustang, or a Mustang better. They are apples and oranges, and not really comparable. I've owned Corvettes, and I've owned some stupidly fast modded Mustangs. You can't build a Mustang into a Corvette. It may be faster, but it will never have the underpinnings and engineering. It's like drugging up a donkey to beat a horse in a race. It's certainly a way to get the job done on the cheap, but your donkey aint no horse.

I promise, I am a Mustang owner and lover!!! Just had to get some perspective injected here.

I second to all that. :nice:

Hey Satinsilver I live on Otis and I'm looking to get an 05 in the not to distant future from Ashley Ford in NB. If your interested I'll let you know when they come in about 2 weeks they have 2 V6's right now which are nice to sit in and at least get a feel for. I'm sure Ford of Hyannis will be grabbing some too.
FYI :D

Foghorn, 1badII was making a sarcastic jab, seeing that there is no letter "e" in the word "Camaro". The funny thing is that alot of Camaro OWNERS don't know how to spell the name of their car correctly, and use an "e"!!!! LOL!!!
