These 2 cars kill the Mustangs in exterior and interior looks, luxuary features, practicality, ride comfort & price range.
The only thing they lose against is straight line acceleration where the Mustangs are slightly quicker although they run less powerful engines.

Looks like ass, a 4 door GTO. Straight outta the 90's bubble styling.

Here's the previous version (2002) of the Ford Falcon:

1363_5mg.jpg

Has around 340hp and 370lb-ft torque from a 5.6 litre pushrod V8.

1000hp Ford inline 6 cylinder engine.... HELL YEAH!!

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2311/article.html

At a glance...

1035hp from a Ford XR6T engine
Fat, useable torque curve
High strength internals
7500 rpm limit
AUD$40k+ build
The absolute XR6T benchmark

2311_4mg.jpg

I cant get the rest of the article as you gotta pay for it and well... screw that!

But you can imagine what its gonna be like. This engine is awesome!!
Because its so large and powerful and able to handle boost well it sets a high benchmark in engine modifications.
Knowing that the engine is capable of such enormous levels of horsepower without becoming unstable is very interesting.
This would be a good thing for the tuner market!
I cant see why Ford of America isnt interested in getting their hands on this Aussie engine and model.
Its a large 4 door family sedan with space and practicality but also real guts and menacing looks. Not to mention rear wheel drive!
1729_9mg.jpg

This thing poops over the Ford Taurus and Crown Victoria!
Its the Australian version of the mustang yet has more fuctionality to it than just going fast in a straight line.

Someone please hand this guy a clue because he obviously hasnt got one.
The Falcon has no similarities to a GTO nor does it look like a 90's bubble styled car.
Besides, the new Mustang looks like the 70's car with a few bits of plastic thrown on to make it look updated.

That car does not replace the mustang, but why can't they offer that and the mustang in the USA. What the hell???? That car is sweet even tho to me it looks like a very bad ass contour, who cares it looks cool (for that type of car/not a mustang more of a touring car) and who doesn't want that kind of power. Look how respected the 03/04 cobra's are EVEN to vette guys and such. Power is what gains respect on the road, don't get me wrong the whole package is what really matters but why not also have a **** load of power. It can be done so easy. I have an 88 thunderbird turbo coupe 4cly turbo, and there are people running 12's with the same (heavy) car with a ported stock SOHC head, ported intakes, free exhaust, bigger turbo, and some more fuel.....that 6 cylinder is awesome, but if nothing else why not offer more cubic inches.........The USA would eat it up, im sure you could watch fords sales go up, notice how they sell a $30,000 evo that is really a tin can lancer (felt that way to me anyway) that has power and can put it to the road.

Sorry, different cars for different markets. The Mustang is a two door sports coupe, the Falcon is a four dour sports sedan. I'd like to see the Falcon replace the Taurus in the US, but apples & oranges to compare directly to the Mustang.

Yeah, that Barra 182 is definitely a sweet motor. I really wish Ford would have used it in the base Mustang. Just alter the tuning a bit, compromise a few lb/ft for some more hp and it would be perfect. A 250 hp straight-6 Mustang? Where do I sign up! Even though it already has variable intake valve timing, I'd like to see some variable exhaust valve timing as well, packing even more power and efficiency...

Umm the Falcon is cool no question but I think some one should hand you a clue if you think it doesn't have a similatities to the GTO. Here is your clue:

As of today (9/5/04)

$39,990 AUS = $30,440 USD
$59,990 AUS = $45,664 USD

I would rather drive this (XR6) than a Taurus or Five Hundred ANY day. IT's rear wheel drive!!
