Ok, I was getting 2 Draglites for my '92 GT, for cheap, but they only have 4-1/4" of backspacing. That is measuring from the wheel lip to the mounting pad. I was told I needed 6-1/2" of backspacing, which would explain why they rubbed on the car they were on. So can they be made to work, or should I just pass them up ?

On an 8 inch rim 4 1/4 inch backspacing will leave the rim sticking out of the fenderwell. You should have at least a 5 or 5 1/2 inch backspacing on an 8.

Here is a picture of a 15 X 8 with 4 1/2 inch backspacing with a 265/50/15.
It sticks out past the fenderwell and would rub on large bumps. I had to change them to a larger offset.
