What the heck does VTEC mean?

VTEC is always "on"

Its operated by a solenoid that changes the cam lobe at higher RPM's.... for example my friend's switches to the high lobe at 4000 rpm. They use the smaller lobes down low still because thats your "economy" setup... a good driver won't leave VTEC during a race.

For the record, I owned a 1996 Honda Accord with "VTEC." The Absolute worse piece of crap I've ever owned. I had to take that POS Rice bucket back to the dealership 6 times to get the valves adjusted because it sounded like a 86 VW Diesel.

I would never purchase another honda. Hondas are overrated and gutless cars. They are ok for commuter cars, but if you want a race car, look elsewere.

I do not understand you kids that go out and purchase an economy box civic, stip it down, do an engine swap and put stickers on it and think you have a fast car. Why not start out with a use Mustang or Camaro, mod it and have a faster car.

It is easier to make a fast car faster than it is to make an economy box fast. :nonono:
