I Now Understand what the 2005 Mustang GT is All About

God forbid they sell a car without fake scoops all over the place like some rice car  . IMHO the mustang has looked like some typical lame bubble car since the 94 came out,now it actually looks like a mustang, thats more aggression right there than some ugly fake scooped out bubble car. But hey everybody is entitled to there wrong opinion... :bang:

wheels make the car

If you see a mustang GT with the optional wheels (machined) it makes

the car look much less aggressive than one with the standard (cast) wheels.

- when the 18" wheels come out the stang is going to look hot.

Some sleeper. I get people staring at my car, pointing at it across the intersection, honking, thumbs up. I've had people follow me for miles, park next to me, and ask if I minded telling them more about it. I've had kids, young men and women, old men and women, recognize it immediately as a Mustang and ask me questions about it.

It's not a sleeper. Neither is it a jelly-bean aero crapola wanna-be car.

It's a MUSTANG and most people "get it".

It must really hurt not to have the new car on the block not to mention the value of the 99 to 04 mustangs have droped by at least 5k since the arrival of the 05's :D

ps this is a 2005 mustang forum for fans of the 05 ... glad your a fan ... keep that bench warm for me :D

I assume the :D means you're just having fun - otherwise you would seem to be happy that 99-04 owners have outdated, devalued cars (even though you were able "not to mention" the 5k drop) - which would be mean to fellow stang owners who "na na na na na" don't have an 05 like you. I'm sure that wasn't your intent.

I actually thought this forum was a place to discuss the 05 (good and bad) without necessarily being a fan. I agree if someone continually rags on the car then they should go somewhere else, but assuming the car is not perfect I'd like to know what 05 owners really think to help me decide if/when to upgrade and what to look out for. I can always go to Ford's site or the dealer for spin.

This is one of the best posts I have ever read....it brought a tear to my eye :nice:

always been a sort of fan...

...of the 99-04 Mustangs, but only for a rental car.

It wasn't until the '05's came out that I ever seriously thought of buying one (and I have!). In my opinion, the lack of scoops and whoops and droops are what make this car. I strongly believe it will be a storied chapter in the history of the Mustang... and I hope they stay as clean as they are for a long time to come.

But if they do return to the bubble whoopsie swoopsie doopsie styling, at least I'll have the satisfaction of having owned the best designed Mustang style EVER produced. (even if it is just a "lowly" V6!!!)

This is a forum for discussing good and bad. But take a look at performancered's past postings (You can look it up easily). And you will see that in the 05 forum. Unless he is arguing with another member. He has started posted many times about the mustang not being aggressive. Including starting at least 2 threads on the topic. This post to most people looks like just another attempt to start the thread again. I can discuss what I think is wrong with the 05 all day. But if all you have is one complaint about looks (No scoops). Is it really neccessary to put it in nearly all your posts?

Hey Performancered.... I'm surprised that you're not a multi-millionaire by now, and that you're not having a special one-off 2005 Mustang commissioned and built especially for you, with all the "aggressiveness" you desire. After all, I figured that you saw that commercial on TV, you know the one:

"Everybody laughed at my pot that strained pasta....If I had a patent, I'd be RICH!!!"

"Clap on, clap off, that was MY idea...if I had only known to get a patent....."

Man, I figured FOR SURE that you would see that commercial, and get a patent on your invention, the "BLOWN SCOOP", and the rest would be history. Saleen, Roush, Shelby, SVT, would all be jumping at the opportunity to use your blown scoop, and the royalties would be flooding in... What happened, don't you watch TV? By the way, a "sleeper" is the Grandma tan 1981 Chevy Caprice 4-door Brougham that used to run low 11's at my local track on Goodyear Arriva's through full and quiet exhaust (built 427 with N2O). THAT'S a sleeper. The new '05 Mustang is a tasteful musclecar.

The 2005 Mustang GT has a redesigned body and interior. It's got 300 horsepower with 315 torque. I saw this vehicle in person and I realized that it looks like an ordinary car. It look too plain. It does NOT look aggressive like the Mustang GT's which were built between 1999-2004. I know why the 2005 Mustang GT looks like an ordinary vehicle. It's because Ford wants the new 2005 Mustang GT to look like a "SLEEPER" muscle car. That's what this car is. It is a SLEEPER muscle car. That's why it doesn't look agggressive.

Ford's next step is to add some nice hood and side scoops to the vehicle. Only then will the 2005 Mustang GT not look like a sleeper muscle car.

What would you expect from a guy that thinks GW is looking to crush Communism?? The only thing George may succeed in doing is trampling on our civil liberties and crushing the American spirit. what a tool.

And I for one, am looking forward to my Black '05 "sleeper"...

 what a dick.

Please don't start with the political commentary. If you think this thread is bad already, that will send it to Hell in a handbasket real fast!

Built it "the scoops will come".

Ford is just doing what most companies do when they come up with something "new" - they don't add the doo-dads at first because the don't need to to sell the product. The new design will sell the product for awhile at least.

I just bet us scoop lovers would pass out with lust if we saw what is AREADY on the drawing boards at Ford.

I like a more aggressive looking car myself but I really don't want to get into some scoop war because of liking what I like.

IF any SE models come out - I doubt very much people will be trying to trade off thier hoods for some stock hood. I doubt very much if they will be busting their buns trying to "un-aggressive" their new Cobras.

Points well-taken, but remember, the Bullitt was an extremely popular SE (actually, I consider it to be the pinnacle of "good looks" out of all the SE's), and it was all about removing extraneous scoops and wings, and going with a cleaner crisper design approach. To me, the Bullitt looks much more serious and aggressive, and less "hokey" than a run-of-mill 99-04 GT. We'll have to wait and see what direction Ford takes with the SE's. They'll probably do a Boss and/or a Mach that are scooped and spoilered to death, and they may do another Bullitt that is low, lean and mean.

A "sleeper"? Do you know what a sleeper is. First of all not many mustangs would even be considered a sleeper. Let alone a new mustang that has drawn more attention then i've personally ever seen before. From all ages of people to even CHEVY LOVERS. They all think this car looks awesome, even people that don't know anything about cars and don't realize the HP increase. Granted not ALL people think the car looks great, but a huge (even non ford people) majority of people do like it alot. Most of the time I would say everyone has a right to there opinion, however calling it a "sleeper" is just wrong if you look at the facts (people's interest). A sleeper is something that you don't expect to line up next to you and give you a challenge and then it whips your @ss. Then you say holey $hit what a sleeper i never expected that..........

Exactly..... A Lingenfelter Chevy Suburban is a sleeper, a rust-bucket 4-door sled with a nitroused big block in it is a sleeper.....you could even say that the new GTO is a sleeper (because it looks so much like it's econobox brethren)! But EVERYBODY who sees a Mustang and sees that GT on the fender knows what it is all about. I suppose in a world where every performance car has to look like a scoop factory exploded all over it in order to look "aggressive" to the mullet-headed owner, the new Mustang could be perceived as a sleeper.

To all '05 lovers:

I've said many times that Ford has done a GREAT job with the '05 in that its a quality build and a great value.

I try to bite my tounge until provoked. A search of my posts will show that I've expressed praise to toward the new Mustang where praise is warranted.

That said, I'm more than happy to fight fire with fire. If people here want to make fun of pre-05's, calling them 'junk' or 'value-less', then I'm more than happy to point out how unattractive I think the '05 is, along with every sad attempt at a body kit i've seen. And not to mention not a single '05 can touch the '03-'04 Snakes performance wise.

I got my Cobra for about the same price as a loaded GT. I'm glad as hell I did. I hope that '05 owners are similarly glad with their purchase. I'll continue pointing out what a great job Ford has done with the new GT, it's gotten rave reviews and looks solid as a rock.

-Jpjr looking forward to joining '05 owners in ganging up on GTO's and Vette's from now on ;)
