I wasn't being pissy at all. I was stating you have no other choice, and I hear this all the time... "I don't want them working on my car" Like you can get it done somewhere else??? lol And I highly doubt you'd smack me like a woman. I don't have to deal with you retard people with your retard problems in person. :) I don't ever see you. We have people that deal with people just like you mach271. :)

All i have to say is BALLOONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, we dont' turn you away for no reason. If I don't log something I've done on your car, I DON'T GET PAID. So I WANT to find something wrong. If you're sent away with us saying "there is nothing wrong" it's because we literally found, drum roll please, NOTHING.

Sorry for going off topic guys.....but this is my problem with Techs.
"Uh, ma'am...your blinker fluid is low, that will be $125." or I like this one better.... "Yeah, we can fix that, it will be $200.", then when you come back to pick it up you get:"Welllll... we ran into some problems and had replace some other stuff... it will be $850."...... Had that one happen.... sorry, I'm getting dizzy up here on the soap box, I'll get down...

I've never recommended anything or charged anyone anything and not done it or they didn't need it. I would be fired in an instant for it. I'm sure there are some scumbags out there, but don't you dare tell me I'm one of them. I've got morals. If I make no money then oh well. If I tell them there is nothing wrong and they're expecting to spend 1000 bucks, you know what? They'll come back to ME when there IS a problem. It's call customer service and being truthful.... A sshole :nonono:

Since you want to pick on ford technicians Ill chime in (ex technician). Except ill be a bit nicer.

It is under warranty........ nine times out of ten we just swap them. In a couple months once parts are readily available go back, complain and I can allmost guarentee you will end up with a new headunit.

That wasnt so hard, and I can guarentee any technician at work wouldnt mouth off to a customer. But on this board here, we can alittle :)

Goodluck with your new car, and as one has said, try resetting it.

Charles

If a Ford technician presents himself (or herself) as a Ford employee, whether in person or on a board such as this one, then they represent Ford. They should never mouth off to a customer or let a customer push their buttons in such a way as to make them lose their cool. Not in person, and especially not on a board where hundreds if not thousands of current and potential Ford customers will read it. Whether you are anonymous or not, it's just bad for business. Also, if you think some of the top Ford execs don't read boards like this, I think you'd be wrong :)

What chaps my ass is the local dealer here was supposed to align the front end of my car after I replaced a inner tie rod. Took the car in, gave emm the keys they said I could wait while they do it. I looked around 35 minutes later, my car hadn't moved a bloody inch, they come to me and say they need to replace the other side before the alignment cause it was bad also. I took the damn keys and went down the street to an independent mechanic. He actually put it on damn lift and checked both sides. Found no problem and did the alignment. Needless to say the local Ford boys don't touch my car anymore. Screw me once the old saying goes. When I purchase my next Ford it'll be from a neighboring city since the locals can't get right.

To your topic at hand resetting the radio sounds like your best option at the moment.

Going back to the topic of actual CDs not working, try burning your home-made CDs at 4x or 8x.

Burning audio CDs at high speeds creates small errors on the disks that computer and some audio CD players can handle while others can not.

My brother bought an Infiniti G35 last year and the audio system in it wouldn't play an of his burned CDs. I had him reburn at 4x and he hasn't had trouble since. It's slower but it should work. This doesn't explain why the "Bowling for Soup" CD wouldn't work but it might explain the home brew CDs.

Just my .02! Don't take it as gospel! :)

Now I dont think it is the CDs. I saw him today and now the head unit will not even come on. We pulled the fuse but it was good. May just be a defective unit. He said he was taking it in on Mon, the thing I dont get, maybe if the Techs would stop fighting long enough they could tell me, why did they say they would have to pull the unit to get the part number off it so they could order another one. That sounds like 1960s technoligy to me. Dont they have thats stuff on a computer somewhere?

Ive had my 05(shaker500) for 2 weeks now and I have noticed that once in a while when Im listentin to a song, it rewinds it back for like 5 second and then plays again,,, it has happened more than 10 times, on different cd's.. ALL original CD's, no mp3,,,and 2 of the CD's brand new with no scratches,,, it's getting kind of annoying,,, could this be a problem that will show more and more the further we go? ,,,,
I just know that if it keeps doin this, I will have the stereo replaced, as long as the replacement won't do the same thing, who knows!,,,,

As you can see ford has some small problems (really they are on average with other manufactures) with headunits, the reason they have to pull the headunit for a part number is due to the ongoing changes in the headunits and also what audio system you have. Each model, IE Mustang normaly has about 5-10 difrent headunit partnumbers. To insure you get the correct headunit we have to pull it and physically see the number. Goodluck

You wouldn't believe the "problems" people have until you do this job. "Do you hear that rattle/squeek/noise" Just things that waste your time.

It IS your job though, is it not? Sorry if you feel your time is being wasted. I work in IT for my job. I know all about time wasting problems, but unfortunately, that's your job.

BTW, I've had a couple tracks skip on me too. It's sporatic, but it's happened. I have the Shaker 1000.

This does sound like a pretty real problem.

I have an 05 GT (black/red int) with Shaker 1000 and am also having the CD skipping problem. Called Dearborn to get some info but nothing doing. Question I have is whether to bring it back now or wait awhile to give Ford time to figure it out.

For a stock system both of them are pretty damn good....but I personally would not have either if it was a choice, as far as I know the 500 comes standard in the GT, but is an option on the V6. And the 1000 is an option for the GT...Ummm I don't know the cost to upgrade the 500 in the V6, but I do know the cost to upgrade to the 1000 in the GT. And personally for the cost it is. Its not even close to worth it... for that price I can bye a much nicer sounding aftermarket system for the car.... there are prob a dozen ways to do it as well, depending on your tastes, some might use all the cost difference on a sub and amp, while others may use it on the just the deck itself, and then there are all the choices in-between, all of which im 100% certain will give you a much better sound than stock.

This prob will all fit in with the 500 upgrade as well. but as I said im not familiar with the cost to upgrade to the 500 if its even an option...

If you want to know what I would do...Since Im buying the GT, and I plan on keeping the 500 system.

First thing I would do is put dynamat behind the subs in the doors, and all other speakers, then I would chance the deck...depending on what deck you want, you can do that for well under the cost upgrade and get a much nicer sounding system than the 1000...it might not hit as hard in the bass as the 1000 would. But the bass will sound far more detailed and less distorted...and trust me for most people the bass from the 500 is more than enough to thump your chest... oh ya plus the dynamat will cause the 500 subs to give just a lil more thump...

LOL thats what I would do if I was to spend the cost difference.... But personally I plan on installing a eclipse double din lcd screen deck, and swap all front speakers with Morel Deotects, and place two 10" focus subs in the trunk both powered by a Audison amp... Next to cars music is my next biggest passion, and I have to have a sweet sound in my car or im never satisfied with the car..

any who that's my two bits

Do these skipping problems happen when you have the subs cranking out at fulll or almost fulll levels?... Maybe the anti shock electronics are not working or they were not designed to record music far enough in advance, with all the shock the player is recieving from not only the road but from the sub aswell

that would be one of my guesses that could cause something like that to happen
