Here is a pic of JBA's new long tubes and exhaust for the 05 Mustang GT. You can check out all of JBA's new 05 Mustang product here.

Installing headers and exhaust products won't void your warranty. In order for an aftermarket product to do that - the dealer has to prove that the item in question caused a failure or malfunction on the vehicle.

Ok I asked this on the other JBA topic-

If I installed these long tubes and the exhaust on my 05, will it still pass inspection? On the JBA site, they mention the Cat-4 ward headers that are "smog legal", so that got me to windering.

What would we have to do to the computer to install the full headers.
Are we looking at a custom flash? Do the headers have a spot for the O2 sensor?

I have never heard of having to modify the cars computer due to an exhaust system.

Hmm, yes that almost goes without saying once you change the intake and exhaust you will change the AFR and should have the OCM retuned to reflect the changes. Also, maximizes the HP gain from this mod

The long tube headers and h-pipe are for off-road use, but the cat4ward headers are street legal. So, you won't go through emissions with the long tube headers and an h-pipe from JBA, but you will with the shorty headers. Also, I talked to my dealer about what mods will void the warranty, and they said that the only way the warranty would be voided is if the mod did the damage. I was also told that, the headers may create extra heat around the streering shaft in the engine bay, which is small in diameter, and it may hurt this. There are plenty of ways to remidy that though. Hope this helps some of you out.

We dont have emissions in NY (yet). so that's not really an issue.
It would be intresting to see the HP numbers short headers vs long ones.

There will be more back to back testing on these as more Mustangs become available. The long tubes will put out a more ponies than the Cat4ward shortys - around 25+. Shortys will be a little back of that but with great torque for street use. As for emissions - it really does depend on local laws.

actually you dont, ALMOST every mod, the computer can compensate for, unless it is something major, such as blower, nitrous or cams, maybe an intake manifold.

Just because you put on exhaust and do a cold air intake does not mean you will need a chip/flash.

You are correct, that a tune will maximize gains, but thats about all you were correct about.

By putting headers on the car, would that affect the standard warranty or ext. warranty you would buy from Ford? Curious?

if they try some stuff. just tell them if they take care of you, that you will take care of them (survey wise). if not you will fill out a survey ripping them to peices. and find someone that would like a good survey.

As for needing a tune. I have been hearing that pretty much any mod you do to the 05's will need a tune.

while by law this is true, if the dealership chooses to void the warranty you'll have to fight them for them to enforce it (because WE are right. but they will fight it)

just wanted to add that it'll cost in lawyer fees to get something warrantied if the dealership is a jerk.

Actually with the 05's new engine management - you will need to do tuning with most upgrades for the improvements to reach their potential. Even as simple as a cold air intake. The new computer is more sensitive to changes than the old one.

are you new?

adding longtubes moves the o2s back and causes the reading to change. they dont heat up as well as with shorties and this causes a rich condition at idle and can cause surge.

i have LTs and i have not needed a tune, and if you talk to any pro-racer they will tell you the same, that a tune is not necessary for just adding headers.
