Raced an 05 gt.

I need not do any research and your petty examples are no proof of anything. That is very limited experience. I am not going to list the number of cars i have ridden in or driven because i dont care what your belief is.

if you are infering i should learn about suspension then I laugh at you. My car had rediculous transfer on stock suspension. the front struts were like 90/10s they were so lose. my rear springs were too soft. they would squat and unload on slicks and light up to 1.7s. When i switched to Fox rears it was great on DRs. now i have the 175 14 inch coilovers with NEW stock struts which SUCKS on drag radials. they wre worthless on the track with stock rear suspension. It is great on slicks though.

oh and my car is lighter than yours ;)

Well that "limited experience" just proved every example you had about saying what car would spin and this and that...it seems like experienced played over internet hear-say?

You can laugh all you want about suspension...but power does not mean limited traction...go to above post...

Just so you know...I floored it on every kind of road you can think of...whether it be on the interstate, 50 yr. old asphalt, fresh asphalt, teethy, non-teethy, parking lots, etc...but again that is just "limited experience"...

Your car is lighter than mine? Well there goes another factor on your tractor...lighter can help lead to traction problems...

I don't care what "belief" you believe in...my belief is fact...think about it...power does not mean anything to traction...if you don't factor in the other factors...again think about it...

Traction wasnt an issue with either one of us which is surprising, I usually cant get traction for anything from a 1st gear roll with nittos and I get sideways on the 1-2 shift. And why I only ran to the top of 2nd was because I have been pulled over for racing on the street before and we were racing in a spot we really shouldnt have been.

I bet traction was an issue on the 05 the manuals are dynoing around 275-280 or so at the rear wheels , they actually stepped the tires down to a 235 width for 05 which SUCKS and 355 gears so dont think for a minute they wont bust the tires up from a roll the machs are doing it with less HP than that , he was probably spinning and didnt even realize it ......if you would have run him on thru third gear im guessing he would have pulled 2-3 cars on you .....

No doubt the car was faster then mine, and trust me, I was right there, his tires werent spinning. At the rate the car was pulling, by the time I woulda hit top of third he probably would have put 1-2 cars on me. Also, sure they did put 3.55's in it, but they put a taller tire on it as well which somewhat tames down the 3.55's

When you can get traction and when you can't seems to be a really funny thing. There have been times when I've nailed it pretty good on semi-damp pavement and actually got traction, much to my surprise. There have also been times where I couldn't get any traction at all at 1/4 throttle in 1st on bone dry pavement. Hell, I've even broken loose at 50mph while passing on the highway. Seems pretty hit and miss for the most part.

Nope your wrong...I drove an 04 Mach 1 5spd (290rwhp) and it didn't spin in 1st gear...chirped second and third...the person goes by the name of 98greenmachine on here if you don't believe me...

Again...the 05's will not spin from a roll on your average asphalt...

It isn't just tires and power that cause problems...where in the powerband/asphalt/weight/gearing/etc...etc..etc...

Yep...that can be caused by the difference in pavement types (chip and seal or fresh asphalt), grooves or unlevel surfaces, or more often than not the temp of the tire and or pavement...I have much worse traction problems in the winter time...I went from no spinning in the summer in 1st or second to the winter where I couldn't get traction till 3rd gear (60+mph)...

Car manufacturers do a great job of controlling the traction factor straight out off the showroom...mainly for safety reasons and performance issues...

Yes they do spin.I test drove a silver auto-matic,came to a stop, turned off the traction controll, and punched it out.It was the pebble asphalt. They spun!

From a roll...not a stop...and I was talking a 5spd but the same applies for a auto...my friend ("getinaGTsoon" on here) had a 94 vert auto and it would spin (stock geared) from a stop also...but not from a roll...when a car is stopped and the gas is pressed to go WOT it shocks the cars body and looses the flex and spins the tires until pressure (squat) is put on the rear...which is already partially working from a roll...because the car stopped is being shocked...

The rolling weight won't allow it on your average concrete...it will squate and go...you might here a chirp or minor wheel hop but it will not "roll over" so much to cause any safety issues (emergency)...pulling out or changing lanes at low speeds...

You will not getting a loosing control type of a spin...ideas need to be expressed more specifically...

i didn't mean to start an argument...........I am gonna go the 05 boards and look around i wasn't dissing the car, i really like them and my wife will prolly have one later on this model year when prices drop. They have a lot better suspension setup than our cars do snoozer. I drove one didn't romp it down low, it had power but you know it wasn't killer. Another thing is that down low in the MPH range our cars have more torque i am sure......

anyhow.....good run....I am just waiting to meet one while i am out cruising...it'll be fun....i won't shut down so early.....lol

Does the 05 GT's have the IRS? As Jesse should be able to tell you, its a much easier time hooking up with IRS. I see these 03-04 cobra's bust out 1.7's and better at the track on stock size nitto's and go 11's all the damn time. Im running more hp and bigger nitto's (315's) and can't come close to these guys except my mph is usually higher. What i wouldn't give to hook up like they do on 17" drag radials. Just a high piched "err" and they are gone...

I believe there are solid axle. Im sure ford will never have a mustang gt with IRS.

Alot of people bitch about the IRS and hooking up but ive had good luck with it, of course my IRS was never stock since i bought the car modded. Im sure a stock IRS would suck compared to a stock solid axle.

Light turns green, we both roll out in first holding it til about 15mph, then we both hit it. First gear we were about even, hit 2nd and he started pulling on me a little. End of 2nd I shut it down with him almost a half a car ahead of me.

So you raced for less than 5 seconds. How much would I learn from a single race of less than 5 seconds? Not much.

That his car was faster then mine? sorry, I usually dont even race on the street at all. Much less on a fairly busy part of the local cruising strip.

your arguments are mind numbigly falical.

when my car was on street tires, it was 3400 pounds.

what are you going to tell me next that 600 hp cars hook well on slicks or nittos on the street?
:bs:

What you did was fine...you didn't race any further for risk of injury or a trouble with the po-po...

I don't recall epracmetcon saying he would have hung with him or how he raced for a long distance...some people need to lay off...he just posted what he noticed...and he also proved my point on how the 05 Gt didn't spin... :)

Very possible...it all depends on a lot of factors but it can do it...

If anybody would look at our "argument" they will see the reality...

Power doesn't mean traction problems...go read up...

I have proved everything you have "challenged" me with...if you can take my word for it over the net...

How bout you PM sirsureshot39 and ask him about his traction with his 600+bhp in his car...and I'll prove it again...
