2005 is out and looks gorgeous, which won't give our friend'S at Ford Company any reasons wanting to come up with a NEW body style in many many years to come,,,
BUT
the question is, when do YOU think Ford will try to come up with a new body style for Mustang next time?

I know the exact answer - but the right answer was not a choice so I could not vote.

It will be 4 years 233 days 6 hours 41 minutes and either 7 or 21 seconds.

It came to me in a dream but the phone rang when the seconds were starting to come clear.

Nice. Can you use your powers to tell me how much horses the new SVT Stang is going to have?

if you pick anything other then 2010 your smokin crack!!! you really think they would wait 11yrs to change the bodystyle on any car????

Fox Body '79-93

That's 14 YEARS without a new body style

Sn95 '94-04

That's 10 years for thast particular body style.

Giving the car a restyle doesn't count. Even by that standard the Mustang is slow to change.

During '79-86, the Mustang's nose changed a tiny bit, but other than that it's 1 restyle. That right there is 8 YEARS. The car was restyled in and out in 1987 and stayed the same til 1993. That's 7 YEARS on that style.

We all know about the 94-98 and 99-04 body styles...which is basically the same car with a facelift. 5 YEARS for each of those bodies

And if you REALLY want to get technical, The 79-04 Mustang is built on the same chassis, so it really is a 25 year old chassis.

Don't beleive me? Look under the hood of your 99-04 for the guys who have those cars. Notice the round hole that the windshield washer fluid resevior is in? See the matching one on the other fender? Do you know what those are???

Those are where the air snorkel tubes used to draw air from on the 79-86 carbed stangs. Yup, that's right. A brand spanking new 2004 GT has holes in it's fender left over from the carbed day's of a '79 Mustang :D

So my guess...10-15 years before a major chassis change, probably a restyle of the exterior in 6-7 years.

I voted 2016 before we see a 6th Gen Mustang

At our local dealership, I heard a salesman say "Its a nice look now, get it if you want the look, come 2010, its going to be a new look"

Take it for what its worth, but it makes sense to me.. 5 yearsish is about right.

Dealers don't know jack.

Ford can't afford to spend the billions it takes to design a new car from scratch every 5 years. What you will see in 5 years is a redesign of the exterior. Everything mechanical will stay the same for the most part but the exterior sheetmetal will get reworked. It will look different, but for the most part be the same car. The interior may or may not get restyled, it all depends on the reception it gets in the next few years. Given Ford's trend, it will stay the same except for minor changes and upgrades.

You will see a new fresh face, but it's still gonna be S197 chassis.

What's the rush for???

not exactly billions... if you count all the facilities to make the engines, chassis, etc then maybe, but that's why they're modular engines and chassis are shared cross platform. IMO the 98 and 99 stangs are a drastic redesign as far as cosmetics go. The chassis should be good for 15-20 years IMO

Yes, because I said a complete redesign..... what I said, and they said was "Look" thanks for reading.

I think its obvious, they will not be changing the chassis they just introduced this year... in just 5 years.

Well the fox chasis was out for 25 years with 1 major reskin (94)

As far as "style", it had 4 different ones:

79-86 8yrs
87-93 7yrs
94-98 5yrs
99-04 5yrs (same interior)

I voted 2010, we'll see a body change similiar to the 98/99 & 86/87 transition with possibly a different interior. Then if they decide to keep the chassis another 10 yrs (which would be 15 yrs total) we might see a major reskin (similiar to 93/94) after 4-5 yrs putting us at 2020 when a whole new chassis is released (that would be similiar to a good chassis built by today's standards) :rlaugh:
