I found that on www.tirerack.com they have Kumho Ecsta MXs P275/40/17 (on my 17x9 '03 Cobra rims) for $156 each. I checked that the same tire 10mm bigger (P285/40/17s) in only $135 per tire. Anyon have these tires, or see why I shouldn't go with the 285s?

i have the 712's and i don't really like them.. they really need to be heated up.. the MX's are a softer compound and should hook up a little better. They look good too. Sure you don't want sticky nittos for the kind of power you have?

you get what you pay for

i could never imagine skimping on tires when the are the only thing between me and the road.

i have toyo proxies which aren't a cheap tire and i hate them. couldn't imagine having something crappier. Pirelli or BFGoodrich for me next time.

Ive had them before and liked the performance.

The wear was horrible though. They lasted half the miles of yokohamas, goodyears, and dunlops I have had. So unless they are half the price you really arent saving anything.

Well, I'd really like to get some 17x10.5 rims with at least some 335s, but since that's not in my near future, I'll have to stick with the 275/285s. I just didn't want DRs for the treadwear. DRs only come with about 2/3rds the tread of the Kumhos.

IMO, the Kumhos suck. I had a cheap set of the 712's one time before, and I'll never run another set. I am now currently running the Yokohama AVS ES 100's, and have never looked back !! :nice:

That's what I have now, and they are sooo easy to spin.

They don't hook up well, but I'll have to admit that they are good tires for the curves in the roads and they are very good in the rain.

I have about 16,000 miles on them now, and probably might just get 25k out of them if I'm lucky.

I have 15k on my kumhos and will probably see 20 -22k miles. First time EVER going to the track, I clicked off five 2.0's with them.

I have no complaints.

I have the Kumho Ecsta Supras, They are pretty grippy.

I've gotten as many complements on the tires as any thing else! :D

go with the 285's if they will fit. they are like 10 bucks less per tire. you wont be dissapointed with the traction. you cant base the performance of the MX based on the 712's. the tread wear on the MXs isnt that great, mine lasted about 20k miles of hard driving

Actually they are $21 per tire cheaper than the 275s. If I can get 20k of HARD driving out of them, then I'll be sure to get 25k, because I'm not that hard on tires.

Love my MX's, 15k so far, probably will get 22-25k. 295/35 and 275/35. They take a few minutes to warm up before they stick very good. I run my car hard and I feel very confident about high speed turns in dry and wet conditions from my experiences so far.

Had the MX's on my 98 GT, and they were not that great. They're really loud and they take a while to warm up. They get good wet/dry traction, but you really get what you pay for. Go with Nitto's.
which nittos do you run that have better dry traction than the MX's.
