A guy had a brand new Vette at etown yesterday. It looked beautiful, but only ran a best of 12.86. It ran a 12.95 first and i saw the guys time slip. He had a 2.0 60ft which is real good on the stock tires I think.. It was an automatic so I dont know what else he could have done to go much faster..

He ran two 12.9s and a best of 12.85. He also had another driver get in and try who ran the same times.

AND just for those people who read/rely on the magazines...the 03-04 cobra runs 12.6-12.7 stock...its no 13 second car like car and driver, and hot rod mag say.

...

only reason I posted this is because I have heard so much BS from people posting on STANGNET about how much faster the new vette is over the 03-04 cobra stock and other vettes as well...

I like vettes....im just posting what I saw for those people who have started trouble here before....of course they were all probably just kids who didnt even own the cars they said they did haha

Im also so sick of major magazines all saying the 03-04 cobra is a low 13 second machine....they are so pro import and pro chevy is sick....they flat out lie about info

I would expect a $50,000+ car to do better with over 400 hp too isnt it?

I guess the auto does lose some...

Those are impressive numbers for any sports car. Remember the C6 corvette is a sports car, positioned as a better value than an M3 or a 911, not as an all out drag racer. Obviously people on these forums are gonna to say '03-'04 cobras with 2 grand in mods would demolish the vette; but that simply isnt the point. Some people do buy vettes to race them occasionally but the vast majority dont buy them to mod and drag. I'd love to get a cobra if i could afford one and comfortably put down 500rwhp but i can also appreciate a true sports car that handles much better and has much better ergos.

yes and you could buy a rusted out fox body and strip it and drop in a turbo engine and destroy the cobra for much less, is that the point? most people dont buy $50,000 cars to run them at the strip, and even a modified cobra would have a tough time hanging with a stock vette or a crappy 6 cylinder M3 on a road course. 1/4 numbers may be the most important thing to most people on these forums but that doesent mean you should be blind to everything else. would anyone trade a 10 seconds '03 cobra for ford GT just because the cobra is quicker?

I've also seen guys with bone stock Cobra's running 13.2's and 13.1's with 2.0 60 fts. So, just because you have seen 1 new Vette run 12.8, doesn't mean that's the best it will do. You sound like one of those ricers that runs his high 14 second 4 banger against someone with a new stock GT and runs a high 14. "Hey guys...those mustangs are slow cause my honda kepy up with one at the track. No, really...I have the slip. Check it out."

:notnice:

miklo pissed because he still can't beat a stock Z06 with drag radials. 11.68?? at 121?? you need to learn to 60ft a car before you talk too much crap about any other car, especially a bonestock one.

Your car was actually making some power, too bad you keep wasting it with piss poor 60fts. Throw me the keys and I'll show you what kind of ets that cobra ought to be running.
