Kind of a funny question..

I recently got a new job that kicks ass. Part of why it kicks ass is because it's 2 minutes from my house. Really. It's literally around the block. Walking would take 10 minutes. But I like to go home for lunch, or out, so walking would take too long. If I warm up the car for about 3 minutes before I go to work, is this bad for the car to be done 5 days a week?

I'm thinking about just getting a BMX or something...

Or do these modern cars get along with cold mornings just fine nowadays..

Running synthetic oil ain’t gonna make a damn bit of difference. It’s still exposed to the same hydrocarbons, condensation and other pollutants that any other oil is going to be subject to with improper warm up and in that case, should be changed just as often. Not to mention driving short distances like that without warming the car up, it’s cutting the life expectancy of O2 sensors in half! Spending $50.00 on an oil change is just plain retarded! A decent brand name mineral oil, a good filter and regular oil changes are all that is needed. But that’s still not going to protect against improper warm up.

oil starvation to your bearings during warm up every day is killing you, I never let mine warm up. But I don't go driving it hard till its warm. Not like its killing your motor but if you cant prevent it.... just walk or ride a bike. save your car and get the exercise.

I'd ride a bike if I was that close to work. Then I would tell me insurance company I no longer drive my car to work since that should reduce the rates a little and then spend the money I save on gas and insurance and spend it on mods.

But that's just me.

Damn, Gearbanger, you beat me to it.

Nice....somebody else besides me that feels that way. Had a friend say "if I had your Cobra I wouldn't be driving it back and forth to work". What the **** is the fun of having it if you can't drive it all the time???

I think i'll probably buy a bike and use it once in a while... still, the insurance thing is a good idea, I forgot about that... I'll call and get my rates lowered.

If I had a 03 Cobra, I'd drive it just for the hell of it. ****, I do that with my GT already.. :D
