Mac LT's Vs. BBK LT's...

Well i got a nice little bonus in my check this week, and after about 3 months of procrastination, i figured i may as well pick up a set of LT's and a O/R mid pipe. My question is, should i go Mac or BBK? I like the Mac's because they are only $295 shipped from partshopper, but i like the BBK's because they are ceramic coated. But they are also almost twice the price coming in at around $525. Performance wise, is there a difference between the two? And with out the ceramic coating on the Mac's, how bad are they going to look after a while? Money is an issue, and it isnt if you know what i mean. If the BBK's are only going to give me looks and no power gain over the macs, then im gonna go with mac.. What is your opinion??

I love my BBK headers. The mechanic said they were easier to install than Mac. The trouble with Mac is the quality sucks and you get what you pay for. I would pay the extra money and do it right the first time with the BBK headers. You'll also need the 02 extensions for the headers and the mil eliminators for the o/r pipe. Just my .02!

I heard BBK LT's had fitment problems and if MAC's LT's are exposed
to water they rust so,I would have to say MAC's LT's! Just don't
expose them to water and you won't have a chance of them rusting!

How would you not keep your headers from water? They hang under your car. Does it never rain where you live?

Mac = crap.

BBK = quality.

I've also heard of many problems from Mac. Like oil consumption, dont fit, bad rust etc.

You get what you pay for!

It rains 6% of the year here and I never drive my stang in rain period.
BBK makes good quality headers but,I heard of some guy on the corral
that had fitment issue's with BBK LT's on his 00 GT but,every car is different
and that's just one person.The MAC LT's are crap because they rust easy!
Good luck whatever you go with!

There are some other options to consider even yet. The Hooker L/Ts and their matching X-Pipe have received rave reviews from their owners. An added bonus is that they supposedly allow you to pull the tranny without pulling either header.

I have the Bassani mid-length myself and they weren't too bad to install and I LOVE the all Bassani set-up. Sound and performance is killer, was worth four tenths in the quarter on my car. I had to remove the passenger side collector when pulling my tranny down to replace the stock (blown) clutch. It was easy.

Personally, I think Bassani has THE edge as they have the only X-Pipe that lets you go either catted or cat-less in a matter of minutes. It's a bolt up to their mid-length headers.

i would recommend the bbk longtubes over the mac. i run a speed shop and have had problems with the mac headers leaking in the center where the four pipes come together at the collector. save yourself the headache and spend the money once the right way.

I'm happy with my BBK's L/T headers. I have the chrome one and I'm yet to see rust. But I don't drive my car in the rain anyway. I'm about to change my stock clutch with a Spec Stage 2 and heard that is going to be a PITA because of the headers. Took about 10 hours to put in the BBK headers in my car.

I know quite a few people with Hooker Headers on their Mustangs and all of them have said the same thing.........they leak and you can't fix it :notnice:
