One of the local ford dealers here in Chicago on Irving Park have lost their minds. I stopped in to check out one of the Mustang GTs they had in their showroom. I laughed at the salesman when I saw the sticker. They had tacked on about 6900 (2900 for "The Protector" and 4000 for fair market adjustment) to jack the price of the car up to almost 35000.
Just wanted to give you all heads up.

Yep, I noticed that. I just bought one off the dealership in Berwyn. It was listed at 30,115. The car is practically loaded though, and with the low supply, they can jack those prices up.

Was this Lynch Ford?

i dont understand them

thats really crazy,, up here in canada, not one dealer has marked it up over the list,, and many dealers are negotiating on them,,,, its just business as usual,,, after all they are going to make tons of them,, not sure why they think they have something all that special,, even though they are very nice,,,

It appears as though it is going to come down to a battle of our will verse their greed, but I urge everyone to just hold out, after all they are loosing money by not selling them, they obviously would be making more money if they got them off the lot quicker so they can be allocated with more cars to sell. It's happening out here in So Cal, but if you hold out they'll drop the prices, most of the cars out here are just sitting on the lots and not selling because of how much they are asking, in fact I have had several dealerships calling me back about cars that they had orignally contacted me about when they got them in and they still have them and are slowly coming around to the negotiating table. They still aren't budging too much but I have had a couple drop down to $1000 over invoice, so hang in their fellow stangers, you will get your car and hopefully it wont cost as much as a low end BMW.

The dealership I work at is not marking them up at all. Actually we are basically special ordering daily. All the GT's coming in are spoken for, and the quickest way to get on is to order it. We have 28 on order now if I am correct.

Central TX Dealers

I just bought my new black GT premium the Weds before Thanksgiving. (Loving it!) :D

I almost passed up the Mustang altogether because the dealerships in Austin, TX (Maxwell Ford) and Killeen (Auto Max Ford) were marking them up $2500+ over MSRP. (Avoid these lamers if you live in the central TX area.) I refuse to pay above MSRP out of principle. I think its a poor way to treat your customers.

I called Fisher-Vincent Ford in Belton on a whim and to my surprise they weren't marking them up! And they're within 60 miles of the other dealerships. Went there, test drove (didnt even ask for my drivers license or insurance) and sat down and bought it at the sticker price (didn't even charge me for the dealer "clearcoat"). BEST car shopping experience of my life. Liked them so much I've kept the dealer plates on to advertise a little. :)

E-bay has some dealers at or below MSRP for the Buy It Now price. Sooner or later the prices will come down to a normal range. Same thing happened when the 94 models came out.
Just hang in there. I am waiting for the vert. Probably have to wait until December to really get a deal on those.
