Seems I'm not the only one liking the new Saleen.....

I dont like the fact that they took away the retro look that everyone has been wanting. FORD finally makes a hot car comparable to that of the 60s and I am happy as a pig in **** with it. Everywhere I go everyone wants to see and talk about this car from teenagers to folks in their 60s. I cant go anywhere without it drawing a crowd by the time I leave. Im starting to feel like a rock star :D :D

I understand to each his own and I do think the Saleen looks sharp but im sticking with my poor mans special --------- 2005 Ford Mustang GT :D

Doesnt Saleen also add those 20 inch wheels, suspension work(springs and better sway bars) and some extra interior parts. Plus it is somewhat more of a limited car compared to a car that just adds aftermarket kits. I do see your point but I would rather buy the Saleen and be done with it rather than adding extras down the road...been there done that. I put over 50K into a 2002 Gt and sold it a few months ago for 30K. It was fun but very costly.

Actually the auctioneer ended the auction for some reason. Usually when you see an extremely low closing bid, that is one of the reasons. It's more then likely possible that a bidder contacted him with a better offer, so he in turn closed the auction.

I am thinking about ordering the s281 extreme once it is available. I am trying to get more info thru verner cadby ford in NJ, but they havent heard back from Saleen yet. I want one without that friggin huge spoiler and stock GT seats with the airbags.

I spoke to some dude (This guy said he had just finished complete the new pricing for all the saleen packages) from Saleen last Monday and he told me that the Dealers should have all the information (pricing) on the new 05s by the end of the Day (22 Monday) and the website should be updated by the weekend. Well, the site isn't updated yet but I bet some of the dealers know already.

What dealership was that and where are they located? If the one near me doesnt get back to me soon I will call them instead and get the prices with options. The place in NJ still has no details. They do have three 04 Saleen S281's on their lot that they were trying to push but they knew I was only interested in the 05's. They offered me an 04 fully loaded Saleen S281 SC for 34K. The car has an original MSRP of 48.5K...very good deal but as I said before I already had that style and would rather have the 05.

AMEN bro!!! From a silver GT owner to another, you nailed it on the head. The crowds our rides draw are amazing. The Saleen looks a bit "busy" IMO. For only 25 HP, it's not worth all that money.

Umm, you do realize that Saleen is supercharged right? Try 100hp. But, still not worth the money.

Apparently many people agree as it hasn't even reached reserve yet. And at $43k (as it is now), that is ridiculous.

That would be the S281. Not all Saleens are supercharged though, they have to be ordered that way. So i'm sure prices will vary greatly in the respect of fully loaded versus bare-bones, stripped-down.
