Only 200 miles on a full tank?

i only get about 200-210 per tank in mixed driving.....i dont see how u guys can get 300miles per tank.....

I would agree with silverfox. I honestly dont think its possible to get that many miles per tank on a 5.0. Unless you're running displacement on demand that we dont know about. I get an average of 150 per tank mixed city/highway miles. Around 230 pure highway cruising at 75. :D

230-260 miles per tank here. It was a little better on the highway before the 3.73's, but it's better in the city now. I average 20mpg pretty much all the time. I did squeak out a 21.5 mpg on the last fill-up. Man was I thrilled!

Ah, to heck with it! Just take off your hatch and install 2 cylindrical tanks in the cargo area, hook up a reserve gas line and you're all set.

P.S. Don't forget to also wear a black leather motorcycle suit and get yourself a huskey dog to ride along shot-gun when you go out on trips :)

I think that a lot of the people that claim they are getting over 280 miles per gallon (not all of them, but some) have gears and an inaccurate odometer. I have had 4 fox mustangs. All of them did about 17 per gallon. Two t5s, two aods. When calculated the fuel economy, I took into account the odometer not being accurate.

Mixed city/ freeway I always got about 225 per tank before swapping the 2.73s for 3.73s. Now I get about 190-210 per tank. But I did get right at 29.9 MPG in a couple of tanks from Houston to New Orleans, 350+ miles and only used about 12 gallons of gas. Of course the car was fairly new and the speed limit was 55!!!

Now I get around 23 on the highway, it used to be around 25-26 before the gear swap. I would bet that you need to do a major tune up to increase the MPG.

Good luck!

Dont know about the others but I have stock gears and my mph is within 1mph from my track speeds

True, but that further illustrates the point. Having stock gears, you speedo most likely will be accurate unless it is broken. I think it is more or less highway miles that get exaggerated anyway. For example, I have 3.73s in my 91 convertible AOD. With the black gear, 23 tooth, it is pretty accurate in the city but reads a little high on the highway. Same thing with my 89 lx t5. The way I figured this point was measuring a mile on the highway markers at different mphs.

i get about 170 to a tank, and mine is completely stock. How big is the stock tank by the way? I was thinking about getting a 20 gallon fuel cell that mounts in the stock location. But i expected to get horrible gas mileage when i bought the car.

those folks are really doing well. the only way most 5.0's could do that would be to drop the car out of the air at 280 miles up and let it idle while falling. :)

I bet if you did a weight/load reduction campaign, you could significantly boost your mpg.

Pullies, aftermarket ignition, synthetics and pull out the over 400 lbs of useless crap in one of these cars, 16 inch tires and 2.73's with a .67 OD, you could get 25-26 mpg easy.
