QUIETEST MUFFLER - What is the best 2.5" quiet muffler out there?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Walker DynoMax.

I'm told Borla's are the absolute quietest, but they're also a little pricey. Magnaflows and Dynomax are to be a close second. I'm debating the same decision right now. :(

Magnaflow, Borla, or possibly Dynomax? Who has an X pipe with these?

So Borla and Magnaflow appear to be on the top of most people's lists as #1 quiet muffler, with Dynomax and Spintech coming in a close 2nd.

Of these 4, from those of you who have one of these installed on your cars with an off-road X or a catted X, does any of them have no drone at all?

If they DO have some drone, is it hardly even noticable?

I have 4.10s in an auto, so i will be in the 2000-2100 rpm range a LOT with daily driving. This is unfortunately right smack in the middle of the drone range, and where most of the car's time is spent.

So out of the 4, for those of you with catted X pipes (or even off road ones) do any of them have NO drone? Some people on here are saying "no drone" and I want to be sure they don't just mean that as a comparison to something like Flows or MACs. :D MACs drone my eardrums right out of my head!

BTW, the response is great on this thread, and I appreciate it a lot. You guys are helping me decide on something I'm hoping to leave on there for the rest of the car's natural life. :flag:

I have the Borla Stingers. I must admit mine are not quiet. My neighbors that can witness that! :)

I have a video (no host currently) that will give you a good example of the sound. I'd be happy to email it to you if you'd like. It's 'bout 5MB.

What is a good quiet aftermarket muffler? I have a catted X and a MAC catback, and my car is buzzing and vibrating to death. I love the sound on the outside, but I just can't take the rattlings/buzzings on the inside anymore....

Maybe your Heat Shields are loose on your CATS. I had that problem, other than that, your exhaust shouldn't be buzzing ...

Borla VS Magnaflow - Quietest of the two? NOT STINGERS!

What do you think about regular Borlas, not Stingers? I knew Stingers would be loud.

I'm trying to get a comparison on regular Borlas and Magnaflows. I mainly need an opinion of those two versus each other, whichever being the most quiet inside the car being the winner. :D I know the Magnas were pretty quiet, and they barely had a drone inside the car. I figure since I have a catted X, they should still be pretty quiet if I put them on again.

Borla would be a new experience for me. Not as many people have them. Could I get just the Borla mufflers that I need (not Stingers) and weld them into my MAC catback?

Where would be a good place to buy Borla mufflers, not the whole cat back?

the flowmasters are gonna drone, just about all chambered performance mufflers will, the borlas and magnaflows will have little or no drone, be quieter, and make more power, but u pay for it

Sorry but I beleive you are wrong. As I said, I have the Flowmaster catback using the 3 chamber muffs and there is no drone-and it sounds better than stock but you can listen to your tunes or talk to a passenger. :nice:

Click on the video link in my sig. I once ran a Mac ProChamber and Steeda (Borla) catback and I have 2 interior clips. There was no drone on the inside. And Magnaflows have a similar design. I think Magnaflows would also fulfill the euro sound you want.

All of the mufflers mentioned are excellent mufflers. Everybody has different opinions on what 'quiet' means. But if
minimal internal resonance is priority #1, and you don't have a highly modified motor(300hp+) you can't get a better flowing QUIET muffler than the DynoMax Super Turbo. Period! Remember, DynoMax has two completely different lines. The UltraFlow is very comparable to the Magnaflow design and therefore sound almost identical. The reason why DynoMax doesn't get much respect on these forums is exactly because they are quiet! Not many of us want quiet. :)

Thanks for the dynomax recommendation. I'll look into it!

Anyone else? What's your vote for most droneLESS muffler?

1: 3 chambered Flowmaster 50 series
2: Magnaflow
3: Dynomax Super Turbo

I would say 2 and 3 are the same and would be quieter and less droney. 1. will drone the most. BTW, Dynomax is almost always cheaper in price. Good luck!

dynomax superturbo or the FRPP 2.5 catback is probaly are the quietest.

borla turbo and magnaflow on the quiter side with factory cats but they still have a distinct tone to them.

then agian every car is quite with the factory cats.

there should be sound clips on mustangexaust.com

I think borla sounds the best out of these choises though. once you take the cats off borla and magnaflow both sound very nice.
