Who owns the car?

If you own it, F' him and put it on.

If he owns it, what are you doing buying mods for it?

Well i cant really f him cause he paid for half so he can still tell me what and what not to do to the car. But yes it is my car so you think he would let me but he is pretty serious when it comes to illegal stuff.

And yes im sorry environment not economy.

thanks for all the replies does anyone have another option besides gutting the cats or buying and o/r h pipe with a cat back exhaust.

C'mon man, use your brain.. it's simple! You see, an O/R H is way cheaper to buy than a catted H. That means there is less potential for a product mark-up thusly reducing the monetary injection to the economy that could be obtained. Sheesh... where did you go to school at?

U.M.
school? how about the school of hard knocks!!! HA!!! you been served!

Catback has nothing to do with emissions really. Its the midpipe. Get a o/r h-pipe and take off your cats off of your stock pipe. Weld the shells of the cattalytic converters around the o/r h-pipe and tell ur dad to look under the car and he'll think you're still running cats and not polluting the economy...err...environment :nice:
-BTW, i was also in the same situation as you and i went ahead and installed my Bassani O/R X-Pipe anyways and my dad complained for a while, but then just gave up when he realized i wasn't gonna take it off or stop modding the GT :D

Maybe you could try an offroad x-pipe. I've heard they are a bit quieter than O/R h-pipes, so maybe the old man won't notice the difference. If you're going to do a catback, just do them at the same time and he won't know the difference.

Personally, I don't really care for the sound of O/R pipes. I had one on my old Mustang and the drone when coasting or downshifting was really annoying. On my cobra, I spent the money and bought a catted X. Just my .02. Good luck with your dad :)

Are o/r pipes illegal in OK? Unless you have emissions testing you should be fine. Of course a cop might give you a ticket because your car is too loud but not because you're polluting the economy. :p

If you want a nice sound but don't want to piss your dad off.keep the cats and cut out your mufflers.just run straight pipes.it sounds very good.it should only cost about 100 total if a muffler shop does it.

thats what I had done about 2 months ago except a friend did it for 5 bucks. IT wasnt really that hard. It helps when your friends dad owns a body shop. But back to the point the reason I want and h pipe and mufflers is because I am getting bbk headers and that would be way to loud to run open headers.

hey everybody i have been wanting to buy an h pipe for a long time now and finally decided to but when I told my dad what it was he said no because he did not want me to pollute the economy, he's got a point but I live in enid, oklahoma and its a small town. I guess I should not have told him what a catalytic conv. was. ANYWAYS I was just wondering if there are any other options that would still give me better performance/sound. Also I was thinking if he lets me, I could get an o/r h pipe with a catback system. Would this still help some with the economy. Sorry for the length. Thanks for the help
