I just got my car on saturday and we just had a rainstorm and I noticed that the headlights were fogged up wth condensation inside. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they said that it happens on all of the mustangs and its not included in the warrenty, they said if I want new headlight I have to pay for them.

Is this true, do all of all the stangs have problems with condensation bulid up?

I for one think that the dealer is full of s***, and theres no way that i'm going to let them charge me for new headlights.

That's bs my 99 had condensation in the head lights and I took mine back in 2001 and got a new set for free. there used to be a tsb on this issue for the 99-00 stangs. you might try and check around for tsb #. mabey blue oval news has some info.

Yea i knew it was BS...lol

They just called me and told me that they were going to put the headlight through some sort of test and see if they get fogged up or not.

I don't know what the hell they were doing the other two days they had the car, I brought the car in on tuesday and I still don't have it back.

I about to go up there in a little bit and have a chat with the service manager.

I just swapped out the driver's side headlight on my 02 Gt this past weekend. After the recent heavy central Texas rains it had a LOT of condensation. I found a crack in the lense though, probably from a rock while driving. The passenger side was fine, no condensation whatsoever.

BTW, it was an ultra-easy install. I thought I was going to have to remove the front bumper or something until I did a search and found out how easy it was to remove the headlights (pull 2 pins and they're out). :)

The dealership called me today and told me that there was nothing wrong with the headlights, and said that the next time it happens I should take a picture and show them.

I also took it in to get a new driver side window because it was all strached up and they told me that they didn't even start working on my car yet...I was like WTF, you guys had it for 3 day WTF were you doing to it. They said I might get it back by monday or tuesday

This is the last time I take it to this dealership.

You are being mistreated by that dealership and if you get a survey from Ford, make sure you tell them about it. You may even want to call Ford customer relations AFTER you get the car back. Having a fogged up headlamp is a safety concern (decreased light output) and should be addressed as such. I have the same problem with one of my headlights and all I had to do is call my service writer at my Ford dealer and tell him about it. He ordered the part for me and will call me when he gets it. It's a good idea to build a relationship with a writer- slip him a tip even for warranty work. He WILL remember you and bend over backwards to please you. Also don't ever go in with a chip on your shoulder, you'll get nowhere fast. Asking for his help will make him want to help you. You may have to shop for the correct service dept. though, some dealers just suck no matter what. How do I know this stuff? I've worked in dealers (Toyota) for 23 years and know what it takes to get what you want.

Good advice, there's a lot of people on here that have been having bad experiences with dealership service..Thank goodness I haven't had to take mine in.

Thanks for the info Big Steve, I'll do that next time I take it in for service.

I got the car back today and they told me that they did not change the headlights because they could not find anything wrong with them. They told me next time it happens to take it in and they'll look at it.
