You can hook it up, u just have to bypass the clutch switch so it will remote start, only thing is you must remember to leave the car out of gear, cause if you dont your car is rolling forward, There are some companies that make a universal nuetral saftey switch, you could get one of those as well, most shops will not install a remote start on a 5 speed though so you will probally have to do it yourself. Good luck dan

Yea like he said...get down and run a ignition powered wire to the clutch switch to activate it. I did this once.....and lets say i forgot one time....the stang was like a friggin LEAP FROG. Lets just say it met this wall of a video store and the wall cracked up...a little scratch on the bumper and a WHOLE LOT OF people outside. No trouble though...all the video tapes on the inside on that wall were on the ground though

So if you do it...put notes up on the mirror...like each time u get in turn the switch off to deactivate it so u remember to turn it back on to activate the system and then u will remember to leave it in neutral. Better safe than sorry...i thought "i wont forget...i installed it." Well the same day i put it in i forgot. One time and its all it takes. If it would have hit someone and hurt or killed them...i would have been sued BIG TIME and in jail if i killed them. If a lil kid was in front of it between the front of the car and the video store they would have been dead...plain and simple...:nonono: . I tried it out later....startin it without it in neutral cause i couldnlt believe it would "jump" that far. Well...i did it in an empty parking lot and it leaps forward like no other...:(

Who makes the universal neutral safety switch? I would be interested in that. I know the 87-93's had a neutral safety switch on the trans....anyone know about that? Could i use that as a way to tie it into the system as a safety thing?

If I remember correctly the neutral saftey switch is made by perphial (sp) basically how it works is it senses when you have set the parking brake and opened and closed the door then it shuts the car down for you, if the brain has shut the car down then it knows it is ready to be remoted started. In mine i installed a toggle so i could disable it if i needed and also tied it into the park brake so i would not be able to start it unless the park brake was up, usually i was good about taking it out of gear, but the risk still exists of hitting someone or another car or something, up to you though since it is your car. Sounds good...you definately need some back up besides your human brain. You konw what companies make that device? I thought about doing the parking brake thing but i wasnt sure if that power would turn off while cranking...i guess it doesnt huh?

Nope car will still jump if you leave it in gear, mine only tapped the wall once, a co-worker had taken my car to lunch and when he came back he tossed my keys on my desk next to a set for a 4 runner who's remote start i was working on, he had left it in gear with the brake on i grabbed my keys accidently and could not figure out why the damm 4 runner was not starting, then i head the flows light up outside the bay... :owned: :owned: o well nothing more than a few scratches came out of it. bypasskits.com should have the nuetral saftey switch it is made by Periphial. Good luck Dan

So do you use that neutral safety switch thing? If you get that then there is no way for it to remote start and launch in gear right?

I did not put it on my own car but yes I have used it and there is no way to remote start your car and have it drive off, so if you are worried i highly reccomend it. Dan

get a clifford alarm and you dont have to ** rig it to work properly. I just leave the car in neutral, set the park brake, hit a button on my remote then get out of the car and arm it and it shuts down and the starter circuit is active for the next time i get in

edit - and by clifford I mean a real one not that matrix crap dei put recased into "clifford"

Hey, do you have some info on that alarm?
I need to get a new one myself.

BTW... not to hijack, but anyone else have any rec's for "decent" starter/alarms?

Thanks

I was actually looking at the audivox in summit. It is the only one in the most recent summit with a LCD key and has a ton of cool features for like 150 online. I am now alos checking into some cliffords like recommended above....
