If any I think the light blue one would be the 1st,,,pepe88 said:I figured that they would cut a couple of colors.

upstate said:Yes this was decided before the car went on sale. Nothing to do with sales. Will be replaced by Colorado Red which is the color the line calls it already. Very simular color but a change non the less.
Mustang5L5 said:Ford likes to keep the color pallette fresh. Nobody wants to be seen in a 10 year old color just like they don't want to be seen in a new car with a 10 year old design.
The only color that hangs around for more than 5 years in a row is Black. Everything else gets tweaked and renamed every few years.
5-SpeedStallion said:I see that logic, but if you've got a good color (Torch Red, for instance), just change the name. I don't think anyone would mind driving a car with an 10 year-old color if they had Torch Red or Sonic Blue 10 years ago. Anyway, I see the logic, but it certainly has exceptions in my mind. Don't change colors just for the sake of changing colors.
5-SpeedStallion said:Clearly, the decision HAS to be based on something. I'm not trying to argue, I'm just wondering why they would discontinue any color, unless it wasn't selling well.
The yellow (BZ) for the '94 GT was called Chrome yellow.Mustang5L5 said:Well, ford does that as well too.
94-95 Had Canary Yellow on the Mustang option list.
Ford dropped it but brought it back in 1998-99 naming it Chrome Yellow. Same color and same BZ paint code, but different name.
Actually no. In 1994 and 1995, it was called canary yellow. When it returned for 1998 and 1999, it was called chrome yellow. But it is the same paint. I've had one of each .john336 said:The yellow (BZ) for the '94 GT was called Chrome yellow.
When I bought my '94 GT brand new off the lot, I was told it was Chrome yellow, not Canary yellow as I had initailly thought. Now if that name didn't come out until '98, then I guess those guys were prophets.Rootus said:Actually no. In 1994 and 1995, it was called canary yellow. Well, I think it's far more likely that your memory is wrong . Go grab a brochure from 94 and 95, and look at the color list.john336 said:When I bought my '94 GT brand new off the lot, I was told it was Chrome yellow, not Canary yellow as I had initailly thought. My Mustang was in MM&FF's (2x's), Superfords, & 5.0 Mustangs. I'm quite sure I'd remember the color, Dave, and so does 5.0/Superfords.Rootus said:Well, I think it's far more likely that your memory is wrong . Go grab a brochure from 94 and 95, and look at the color list.
Also, just for kicks, if you are interested in the history of yellow since the beginning (of Mustangs, that is), YMR has a nice write-up:
