Replacing one tire instead of all 4....

The tires on my stang are fairly new and I'm only driving the 3 miles to school 2x or 3x a week, maybe putting on about 30 every other weekend driving around, but one of my tires has a slow air leak. Is replacing one-I'm strapped for cash-really going to screw with my alignment or anything? This is the temp fix for a few months when towards summer I'll replace all 4.
Thanks,

I agree, my best bet would be 4 tires actually, I'd like to put 2 but I just don't have the dough. Until I can put 4 new ones on there later though, the car will be ok right?
Thanks for the quick replies guys.

The car will be just fine... do just one if that's all you can afford and don't take it up to 130 mph with it like that.

I was thinkin' youre not supposed to plug Z tires, but if its a pin hole and you can locat it, patch it from the inside or have a tire place do it (I had a nail and they used a steel braided patch on the inside for 5 bucks) or try a can or two of goo, youre going to have to drive more than 3 miles once you spray the can in, but it works on all the stuff Ive used it on, even my dads farm tractor tire that ran over a roll of barbed wire

The tire's been patched twice, they're almost right on top of each other so the tire place said they can't plug it again. They took the tire off the rim to show me and the patch just isn't staying sealed to the inside of the tire. The guy put glue in it and tried to seal it up but it still leaks...
Thanks for all the help though, oh and p.s., careful where you go for tires...I was looking at some Kumhos and tirerack.com had them for $94 a piece. Merchant's wanted me to pay $173 per.... :notnice:, good looking out..
Thanks again,
Peace

Yeah, I bought my Kumhos Ecsta 711s (Z) from Discount Tire for $109.00 each. (no shipping)

If you got 711s (Zs) make sure they don't put on a 712 (H rated) instead cause it's cheaper.

Yeah right now they're Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 245/45/ZR17. Those are about 223per.. :notnice: , but yeah in a few months, the stang'll be wearing some Z rated Kumhos. :D

You're getting rid of low mileage Michelin Pilot Sports and replacing them with Kumhos? Why?
I had Ford replace one of my stock Goodyears at 12K miles due to a nail that penatrated close to the shoulder that could not be repaired. Now, at 26K, that tire looks a little newer, but otherwise you'd never know the difference. I'd just replace the one your having a problem with.

its a safety issue, not a wear issue. If you only replace one tire, one tire grips different than all 3 on the front that could mean some serious grabbing on a turn and could cause you to overcorrect and wreck, on the rear if you gunned it a bit you could slide out one side or the other and possibly hit something. I think theres an issue at a certain speed over 60 as well but I dont remember what it is.

Tire stores will tell you you need to replace all four, but you should always change at least the same pair (front or rear) when doing an intermittent swap.

If he drives like a normal person and not a teenager with a V8 he'll be fine...

OAN... Colorado Springs! I want to move back there!

Actually, Kumho are very good tires FOR THE PRICE, they wear very long and some models even grip decent.

AND I hate colorado springs, I'm from vegas its too cold here
I had a set of Kumho Ecsta's and well i have NOTHING good to say about them.

They tramlined like crazy at any tire pressure... they were SOO soft that i bent my front rims like 3 times... and on top of that they wore unevenly

When it comes to your car don't be a cheap just replace all four
tires at the same time!

I wanted to but having to put air in the tire everytime I wanted to go somewhere got to be a pita. Come spring, all four are goin.
