GT to Mach 1?

?? WTF does that have to do with anything remotely related to drag racing? For starters, the only time I even use 5th gear is when I'm on a long trip down the interstate! When I cross the finish line on the drag strip, I'm in 3rd gear at around 6600 rpms, so 5 speed or 6 speed or 8 speed, it doesn't really matter, a 4 speed would get the job done nicely. :nice:

Do they give out trophies at your local track for high trap speed? Because at mine, they only give the win to the low e.t.

This is the only statement in your post that is actually true! :nice:

dude i raced a mach 1 before i had my s/c and he only beat me by a half of a car and i had 3 people with me. i would have won if i was by myself. but it is a drivers race stock mach vs. full bolt on gt.
my 2 cents

I was reading this thread and well here's what I have to say...

Stock Mach1 5spd = Stock LS1 camaro 6spd
Stock cobra >>> Stock LS1 camaro or stock Mach1 both manuals
Well stock GT <<< Stock Mach1

From what I can say a stock Mach1 and stock ls1 is usually in the low 13s, stock GT in high 13, low 14.

Also yes the Mach1 is underated, and yes the LS1 camaro is underated, and yes its a driver's race between both of them.

:nonono: ...it appears since you have a Mach it has given you a little bias...

I have driven a 04 Mach 1...and in fact the owner of the car is a member on here...and they are nice cars...third gear chirp :)

I was given you the trans gears for both the cars...comparing the manual vs. manual...you haven't been on the boards long enough to understand the "understood"...

MPH shows which car is truly faster...not E.T....and I wish they gave out trophies in my "class"...with my mph...becaue my E.T.s are no good spinning in 4th gear :D

All what I said was true...I've driven the ls1/mach 1/gt's/etc...etc...etc...and I try "hard" to not put any bias in my post...I give credit where credit is due...

There are many ls1's that have hit 108-109-110mph stock...show me a Mach 1 that does that? Not to take away from the Mach 1...

If I had a choice (haven driven both)...I would take the Mach 1...

I guess since that S-10 beat me at the track do to my severe traction problems I guess he has a faster truck than me since his E.T. was lower

I trapped @ 108.63 mph...
And which is better off the line? Mustang or F-body? In stock trim we all know the much shallower 1st gear in a Mustang is what makes it a hole shot monster.

I always finish the 1/4 in 4th gear with stock 3.55's

Let's put it this way... my friends were lined up 3 wide at a traffic light... '95 LT1 camaro, 2004 Mustang GT and 2004 Cobra.. I was behind the Cobra... he gave them a head start.. so I had to wait to, the Cobra and I had both passed the GT and camaro by 85 mph :D

Did you race the Mach from a dig and did he screw up off the line? Top end Mach's should really pull a GT. You might have also raced an auto Mach.. which would make it a lot closer

We already know this. A Mach 1 can beat an LS1 and an LS1 can beat a Mach 1. I already posted this. It is a drivers race.

And I will agree with you on the Trap Speed thing. Trap speed gives a good indication of the car's potential.

Try 3rd gear spin and 4th gear chirp :D

Oh and on your mph...that is a good mph...but your still not stock...but close :) ...on average there will be more ls1's in the 108+mph than a Mach...

I didn't try 4th gear :D ...Just remember..."spinning" is not necessarily an indication of power... :)

Actually "we" don't already know this...if so then this thread wouldn't continue...

A 6spd ls1 vs. a 5spd Mach 1...given all other parameters being equal or of the equivalent...the ls1 has the advantage...barely...it's a good race to video tape...

A stock 03/04 Cobra will beat both...

A 99+ Gt can hang right beside a Mach 'til around 60mph or so...

Well it means you're a sucky driver too but yeah, your car was slower. :)

No...I can drive the car :nice: ...it just doesn't help when your getting sideways in 3 gears...(seemingly sitting there) while the other vehicle has traction and is accelerating...

I need some drag radials instead of these bald radials... ...that night after the drag strip (couple weeks back) and after a couple "spinning" runs...I had to clean the back fenderwells out and on the paint behind the tires...pieces of shredded tire were melted to it...but luckily it flaked off...

I'm still going with a drivers race. It is very close.

I'd say a modded GT.

I only got through about 4 pages of this, but I'd really like to see a full weight N/A no heads/cam/longtubes GT get into the 12's. Most of the minimally modded GT's have trouble getting into the 13's...

read this thread from Bill Putnam about what it takes to get a GT in the 12's N/A:

http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?threadid=1877
what are you trying to say?

exactly what I said - I'd like to see any full weight mild bolt on sans LT GT's pushing 12's. Seems extremely rare to me if it has happened at all, as was claimed back on page 4 or so. Not to doubt anyone, but your HP for the mods you have seems quite extraordinary from what I have been reading.

If its as common as seems to be indicated, then great, that gives me a lot more hope for my own GT, but I'm just not seeing it...
