I currently have MAC equal lengths that I paid $50 for and now I have the money to buy some better headers. There are two reasons I am getting rid of the MAC's. 1) I cannot get the damn things to seal the the heads (have tried 5 different gaskets) 2) I hate how the tubes have a mind of their own and take an act of congress to line up the bolts. I would like a header that has a one piece flange where it mates to the head, equal length, and quality. Have the stage 8 locking bolts already and swear by them. Any suggestions on brand and style (chrome or coated)?

Thanks,

Darren

Yeah after trying about 3 sets, I ended up using 2 gaskets per header to stop the leaks on my MACs
It's pretty cheesy, but it worked
I want to get rid of them and am also looking for suggestions

I use BBK equal lenths right now for what its worth and have taken them on and off a million times without probs, no major hassles with leaks, if i were going to switch my headers though i would DEFINATELY go with long tubes, and you should be able to get a good header h pipe combo for 250 easy, about the price of a new set of short equals, my old car had long tubes and they made a real big difference.

Get a header that has a thick flanges and you'll be golden.
I've had JBA shorty headers for four years without a single leak. I even used the gaskets and bolts w/lock washers that came in the kit.
The set I had before were shorty BBK headers without the flange. They warped and cracked the gasket in about 6 months. When I tried to replace the gasket the header was too warped to reinstall. So I went with the JBA header.
I think all BBK headers come with thick flanges now. I remember back then (1999) the flange only came with the equal length.

No long tubes as I do not want to buy a new X-Pipe. This is the daily driver so I like the simplicity of working on a car with shorties.

So far is sounds like the biggest concern is the one-piece flange for the tubes. Any other opinions on brands and coatings?
