65 STANG VERT TRUNK MOUNTED BATTERY

i dont have any pics, but i made a battery box out of plexy glass and it looks pretty cool. i know that there are starters with the solinoid mounted on them, maybe npd has them
 
Here is how I did my trunk. The battery tray and aluminum box both bolt into a metal fram that is attached to the metal floor of the trunk.

No, I guess I should have clarified cuz it is confusing. I originally just had the tray in there with the battery and it looked funny, kind of unbalanced. So, I added the box for storage (tools, etc) and it balanced out the look.

Do you have any pics of the engine compartment with the battery and soleonoid gone?
I will be putting my battery in the trunk someday and I have to keep it NHRA legal for the dragstrip. Does anyone know if I will have to use an enclosure if I use an Optima battery or can I just mount it to the trunk floor like gp001?
 
I just ran a battery cable from the battery (in the trunk) to my solenoid under the hood.
Here is a pic of my cable (and exhaust), which will need some more clamps as you can see. lol

I can get pics of it later, when I get time. But, I just have my battery mounted on the left side of the trunk running parallel with the car and hooked my ground cable onto the bumper bolt.

Yes, sort of. I am currently working on the write up/web page about my electrical system, so the picture will make more sense one you see everything.

The area where the battery and solenoid were are now occupied by Mission Control #2. Mission Control #2 consists of several components. First is a piece of sheet metal (bent to fit into the area where the battery once was). Attached to it is my MSD 6AL box and a piece of lexan that contains: a positive (+) 12v juntion block, a ground (-) junction block, and relays for Headlights (1 for Hi, 1 for Lo), Electric fan (2 relays), horns, and remote voltage reading (I have it set up so I can read voltage from 3 different points in the system, all controlled by relays). Next is a high amp alternator shutdown solenoid. If the main power switch is close at the rear of the car it will close the alternator solenoid so that it can not continue to power the car. My MSD coil is also mounted in the area (shock tower). The car was dirty when I took these because it had sat while I rewired the entire car. Also, all the wiring/covering wasn't finished.

I ran both my starter cable (1/0 gauge) and my charge cable (4g) from the trunk area, over the passenger rear wheel well, under the quater window, through the door sills (under the sill plates), behind the fender and entered the engine compartment behind the shock tower. Most of mine is monkey overkill though

But they don't have the battery in the trunk. The main cable length is generally fairly small and well protected.
I spoke with many people on this and most automotive electrical experts agreed moving it is best. Keep in mind that there is no circuit breaker, fusible link, etc between the starter and that cable. If it is "live" all the time you risk a fire, battery explosion, etc if it is ever shorted. All other circuits on your car can be protected by a fusible link, circuit breaker, etc.
