My friend Chris Jones (owner of Blow-By Racing) hooked me up with a great deal. He is very close friends with multiple people at Diablo Sports, and he hooked me up with a Prototype Predator for the '05... if I gave them my car today to let them program the programer. They have been dyno tuning the car today for the past 5 hours. So far w/ the Predator they have managed to get 50 RWHP... yes 5 0 R W H P just by tuning and re-flashing the computer. I leave in a few minutes to go and watch the last dyno pulls and then take my 05 home with me w/ my free Diablo Predator. So for anyone looking to get a quick 50+ horsepower, the diablo predator is the KEY!!! :nice:

predator

That is incredible! Will that tune or one similar be in the predator when purchased do you know? The predator I use on my 03 Cobra has several tunes in it and the ability to import tunes. These 05's would be even more desireable if 50 HP really comes that easy.

Hey J666Z that sounds great but Im sure 50 rhp wont come free. You are going to have to run premium fuel at least. I'm looking forward to being able to buy regular, and not premium which runs about $.20 a gollon more around here in central fla, I'm sure its more down there where you are. I'm also wondering if that will have any effect on your warrenty?

I just got back home from picking it up. It ended up being only a 35HP gain, which is still better than nothing. Right now all I ahve is a stock comp. re-flash until the programs get copyrighted or whatever it's called... then I will get my predator to carry with me at all times.

but the throttle response is day and night, red line is now 7000 RPM w/ stock heads and cams, third gear lights up now power shifting, the tone of the exhaust is deeper and more powerful and the power band kicks in HARD!

IMO it will be a great investment once it becomes available to the public. in the mean time I will keep you all posted with the differnt tunes that are going to be available. Cams going in in 2 weeks as well as the heads being P&P CNC'd new tune will be done after that, and then the procharger will be on in January F-1A intercooled... I love being a ghenni pig.

The warranty on his engine (and most likely transmission from the added power) won't be honored unless he fights the dealership. They can always claim that the mods are what broke a component.

Other than that, he's pretty much home free. A good tuning program will have all sorts of built in safety features for if the car starts running rough, and any repairs from an issue would be minimal, less than 1000 dollars I would think....maybe a new chip or a less aggressive tune.

But 50 RWHP? That would be about the max of what ford would be willing to get out of these engines without a supercharger...and I garuntee that they'd have to do a new engine management program, new exhaust, and probably something with the intake as well. 50RWHP does not come cheap. I don't buy the claim of 50RWHP. 25...sure...and that's still a damn nice and noticable jump. Get him right into the low 13's.....

whoa the f-1a is a serious blower do you intend to forge the bottom end first? you are gonna have one bad azz ride and minus the procharger and the addtion of a whipple my dream 05!!!!

35 Hp is huge. I am going with a MD Motorsport Tune (SCT) in two weeks. I will be their first 05 but I know Ken will do it up just right. BTW, Ken is the fastest 4.6L 2V in the country (10.97 I believe). You may have seen him in a couple of magazines. I will probably set something up for the weekend before Christmas so if there are any folks near Cincy, OH, you can stop by to see it. More details later.

what is the cost on this unit???? 35 hp improvement at the rears is astounding and definately feelable in the seat of the pants o meter. Given that 270 is not uncommon for the 05, is it safe to assume that you are now comfortably at 300?

Congrats on the new tune, POST A GRAPH as soon as possible.

I would NOT mess with the factory rev-limiter!!! This is a new engine from Ford...nobody knows yet how strong the valve springs are, what the exact valve clearances are, etc.

If you spin this motor past the factory redline, you are asking for trouble. For that matter, it would be interesting to know if the 35rwhp peak gain came past the factory 6K redline...

You are playing with dynamite here. Play safely.

Any time you flash the computer, you have to consider that you may have just voided the warranty. As long as you have your eyes open going in, that's awesome, 35 rwhp is a nice bump in power. Just make sure everyone else knows how much the 35 rwhp could cost :)

To my knowledge, if you Flash the computer with either the SCT tune or Diablo, you can always upload the stock factory tune before taking your car into service. This would be undectable correct or am I missing something?

A topic of much debate. It would be trivial for Ford to set up the computer to record the number of times it has been flashed, and whether or not those tunes were stock Ford tunes. This is very basic stuff, and I would actually be surprised if they didn't do something like that.
