I just, finally got my 18x9's, and 18x10's, chrome saleen wheels.
But hopefully someone that reads this has had my same problem. What will fit, and what will fit if I start doing stuff like running dumps, or removing the quad shocks, spacers? you guys gotta know what I mean. The only pictures I have are with the stock tires, but there at my page at the bottom. It sucks not being able to know what tires will fit. I am looking at some toyo 295's but if something wider might fit than . So if anyone has any wonderful knowledge to share please do! Thanks, Chris

265/35/18 up front 295/35/18's in rear. This is stock from Saleen.

I only have 17" rims but the rear rims are 17X11. Right now I am running 285 40 17's with the quadra shocks removed. I also did some suspension mods though. New Mac upper and lower control arms and a Maximum Motorsports Panard Rod Kit. The panard rod keeps the axle centered even in hard cornering so I could go with a wider tire, but they no longer make a 295 in 17". The tires don't rub and I don't have any real issues with wheel hop without the quadra shocks being there. If you go with a 295 you will have to go a series lower such as a 35 instead of 40 and with 18" rims that will also put the tire higher up in the wheel wells forcing the lower profile tire. Much wider than a 305 will probably stick out of the fenders. The 285's almost line up on both sides of the car. Hope this helps. I am probably going to try a 305 the next time I buy tires, but that won't be until spring.

Yeah here is the deal. H&R SS springs claim 1.75" front, and 1.6" drop in the rear. And the front isolators never found their way back in. I would say 2" up front is pretty close to what I actually have. Even my factory tires rubbed through the inner fender where the wiper fluid, or coolant resevior sit. I can't recall which. it is on the drivers side though on top of the inner fender. My friend has a 96 with a prokit drop, and with the same wheels and 265 35 18's, and his rub if you turn the wheel too much. I am 1/2" lower. Am I looking at a 255, or do I need to look into 30 series?? I pretty much plan on having to use atleast dumps on the back. man inspection time is gonna suck! OH WELL. do you guys think a 295 will fit, I am using a 10" rim so I don't know what will fit it either. The best picture I can find is at www.wheelreplicas.com under s style, than customers pics I think, and there is a white cobra towards the bottom. That is what I have to work with. So my friend let me try on his wheels and tires. Same wheels, except his are actually saleens, and 285/35/18, 265/35/18 nitto extremes I think . Mine are the newer style though. It almost looked like I had an inch of clearence between the tire and quad shock. HUMMMMMMMMM 295??????? The fronts cleared turning the wheel both ways. So I'm gonna stick with the same size fronts, but is the 295 worth it? What if the back spacing is different or something? Should I be able to get enough grip with a 285/35/18 toyo t1? Worse case scenerio I have to take out the quad shocks. My shocks and springs should make up for the loss right? I need some opinions please. Thanks, chris

I have 2000 Cobra R's (18x9) on my Cobra. The fronts are 265/35-18s and the rears are 295/35-18s. I run BFG g-force KD. The only problem I had was with the passenger side tail pipe on my MAC catback. But it was nothing a 2.5-5lb hammer didn't take care of.
It's not lowered so I'm not sure what the results would be other than factory ride height. Hope this helps. And if anybody can tell me if there was any probs. on a lowered stang let me know. Thanks

I also have saleen wheels on my cobra and the fit fine I have 265 in front 295 in rear never had any problems. If the car is your daily driver buy cheaper tires as you know they are expensive the only reason I have p-zeros ib because I have a company discount.

cali, is your cobra lowered? or does that make a difference as far as width on the rears? I'm looking right around 820.00 for a set of tires.

Alright bud...me and you (?) are going to figure this out, my friend!

I just happen to be running 275/40/17s on 8" whls and 315/35/17s on 10.5" whls on an old 98. Take a look at mine...we'll figure out tire diameters and overall widths and go from there. Ask away dude!

Keep in mind this is with 1-7/8 drop in front and 1-1/2 in the rear (Eibach Pro Kit with no front isolators).

I learned through experimentation....you don't have to go through all that!

I'll be watching for a post. Your car, with those 'S' wheels, is going to look awesome!

well an easy starter question, were your tail pipes the only thing you had to remove? so I looked at some differences on a calculator, and for sure a 285/35 will fit. which is 11.2" wide. I would say I might have an inch behind the tire, before it hits the quad shock bolt. Offsets could possibly throw off some of this calculation. your 315/35 is 12.4" wide. That is getting close. I haven't even checked to see if that size is available. Thanks chris.

Why you set on toyo's? If you look at tirerack.com's chart of figures for Max performance tires you'll see several different things. Front Optional 18" 245/40-18
Rear Optional 18" 275/35-18

They don't sell Toyo's, but that is their suggested sizes.

I have saleens on my mustang

the fronts and rears are 265/35/18. Its lowered and no problem at all. I have pirellis that I got off ebay for about 500 for the set brand new plus shipping which was like 40 bucks at the most.

I also turned my Quad shocks around...they DO rub a little on my KYB bodies, but not enough to hurt anything.

DIFFERENT tire brands of the same size tire ARE NOT the same size!! YOU must take this into account when looking at fitment!

I just wanted a different tread design, it was either those or kdw2's. I would really like to be able to use some of the new pirelli road race rubber, but that wouldn't be pratical on my application. This I know for a fact, with my suspension setup, a 265/35/18 nitto, will fit the front, and a 285/35/18 nitto tire will fit with 18x9's, and 18x10's. Not that I am doubting tire rack, just had them on last week.
Tygr1 If you had to go back and do it over again, would you push the width a little or just use what you know will fit. A 285 will definately be an improvement over stock 245's, I would hate to order some tires, have them mounted and balenced to find out that they won't fit. A friend of mine has some Torque thrust 2's 11" wheel, with a 315 gsd3 tire. He said I could see if they fit, but I am pretty sure they wont bolt on with out some cutting(tailpipes). but thanks guys for the help. chris
