Got to test drive an '05 GT 5-speed today... 2 concerns

The biggest one was the ride quality. Anyone else feel like you were getting beaten up by the bumps in the road? I drive down the same roads in my '02 and they feel nice and smooth. The second one is the turn signal clicker. That sucker is loud and obnoxious! Is there a way to adjust it somehow? This may seem rather petty but still... Everything else about the car was great. It reminded me a lot of the Mach 1s I drove.

I think both of those concerns are due to the fact that the car is new to you. That kind of stuff happens to be all the time when I drive a new car. I notice subtle things and at the time they seem to be a big deal. After a little while it seems normal and natural.

As far as the ride quality, I have driven 2 GTs and the ride quality was not bad at all (at least I didn't think so). One thing was for sure, it was better than my '94 Stang.

For me, the only thing that really irritated me was that the blindspot was pretty big. I am sure I will get used to that as well though.

Just my $.02

This is my first Mustang ever. I think the ride is okay. Not a crown vic mushy ride, but a sports car suspension ride. I have anout 1600 miles on mine and no complaints from my back or rear end. :D Just have to understand this is a sports car. Not a sedan. What kind of roads did you drive on? I feel nothing when I'm on the freeway. Nice and smooth. But those bridge lips will get your attention. :D

The problem with the blinker noise is an easy fix. Reach over to the right of the windshield wiper arm and locate the "stereo on/off button". Works like a champ.

:rlaugh:

You only live once. Better get it right the first time.

don't drive through tennessee then... they have those little road bumps everywhere.
Back when I was in the military, I drove through eastern Oklahoma once on I-40. It is not paved as a continuous strip -- it's made from concrete segments (about 1 second long at freeway speed, as I remember). By far the most annoying stretch of road to drive on that I have ever experienced.

I can vouch for that...Oklahoma road will beat you to death in any car  ...I have yet to drive an '05 but it can't be half as bad as an old fox body on bumpy roads. :notnice:

Roger

That and deep ruts from big trucks. :notnice:

I drove one Wed. and it felt smooth as Hell. Way smoother ride than either my 94 or the 04 that I've been driving for the last week or two. I also didn't notice the turn signal thing. One thing's for sure, they weren't kidding about it being a lot tighter chassis. It felt a good bit tighter than the 04, and it has full length subframe connectors!

it looks as though you still have the stock suspension on your 02. the stock 99-04 suspension is very bouncy and not really performance orientated other than for launching. it's probably not that the 05 is harsh but rather your 02 is soft. if you think the 05 Mustang is bad, go check out an SRT-4. that thing rides like crap! minor bumps feel like someone is under the car and hitting it with a sledge hammer.
