K well Im new here and just wanted to say that I like how the site is set up. Very helpful. Now to my question. Is it possible to make the front end of a 70 fastback look like a 69? Everyone knows that the 70 has the slits (i guess you could say) on the outside of the headlights. Thats the only thing I dont like about it. So is it possible to change the front end look? Thanks for the help.

While I don't own this model, I think the fenders are the same and you just change out the grille, headlight buckets, surround, and lower valance, but if not, just put a '69 front clip on it, the other body lines will line up. I believe the hood will swap over as well.

Sweet, thanks for the infor 13. Do you happen to know what kind of things i could do to the body to make it unique. When Im done with the restoration, I want it to be a "one of a kind", or as close to that as possible. Thanks again.

I didnt know if there where restrictions on changing out parts between the two. I just found the "Eleanor" body kit online. That kit maybe a big possibility. Would this be considered rice in the classic mustang world?

I think most of us feel that the Eleanor is overdone. Sure, it's an awsome car, but you wouldn't be the only guy out there building an Eleanor.
IMO, the best thing you could do is to lower it, put on some nice 17"s and give it a clean look. Also, the the '70 Mach 1 sports grille /w sportslamps. The '70 look incredibly cool with them. I also love the '70 Boss 302 hood/sidestripes.

I have wondered this also. I have a '70 fastback, and my dad has a '69 Mach 1. It looks to me that this is very doable. I think what "1320stang" said in his post is pretty accurate. I do believe that the chrome trim on the front of the hood is different between the '69 and '70. Something else you can do to set it off a little would be to put a "shelby" rear spoiler on it.

All good points. Fvike, do you know where i can find some pics and maybe pricing on the front you where talking about? I dont know what exactly I want to do regarding the body yet though. I just figured that would look good, but then again that lowered look you where talking about also sounds like it could look good. I guess its all gonna come down to what I like at the time of purchase. Till then Im sure its going to go back and forth a lot.

HOLD ON GENTLEMEN! If you want to make this swap you have to change the fenders, hood moldings and grille assembly! I have a 69 and would like to see this combo but it will be costly. If you doubt what I am saying check out your parts sources.

69/70 change over

The head lamp wire harness will have to be changed also as they are different between 69 and 70

The marker light & where the fender extensions bolt on.

I knew about the marker light, but in the sense of unorigionallity and expense, I didn't figure it mattered, I wasn't aware of the extensions difference. Is it just different placement of holes or is the metal different? I thought that replacement fenders were for '69-'70 just like the '67-'68.

Is there a way for him to be able to use the '69 fenders?
