Hey guys, I currently have a 1995 red v6 mustang which is my first car. Over the past few months I have been looking for a 94-95 gt or cobra. I recently stumbled across a black 95 cobra. It has 40 series flowmasters cat-back, hypertech stage 2 chip, new clutch, new rear end, new brakes, new 255/45/17 tires, 92K miles, black leather, and the mach 460. He's asking about $8,500 as of now and I was wondering if this is a reasonable price. Thanks in advance!!

Some may disagree...But from one cobra owner to a potential other...That is a VERY resonable price. When I looked, the cheapest I found anywhere in AZ, CA, NM, CO, NV and so on in the south west here was 10k with over 100k miles on it. For mine, I paid $11,500 with 88k and bone stock, also had to go out of state to even find an affordable one for sale. This was like 2 years ago, prices may have dropped since then but I doubt by much. It's also possible you can find a modded one for a bit cheaper since they're harder to sell. But since the one you're looking at has a new rear end and such that can save you money since you don't have to replace everything as I did. I say drive it, if it seems like a nice car and you're happy with it, just buy it.

I'm kinda questioning the fact theres a new rear end and clutch, with only 90000 miles that stuff should be fine unless someone beat the crap out of it??? How does the tranny feel ?? how does the motor sound??? did you ask if you could take it to a mechanic for testing??? if all is well 8500 is a great price. also if you plan to mod even further, keep your stock parts, the car will be worth more later stock.

Hey there, Looks like you might be on to something here. Find out how many owners this Cobra's had, and see if there are any service records. You know, the usual due diligence stuff. Definately call Ford SVT at 800-FORD-SVT and ask them to verify if as a Cobra. Here is there web site too: FORD SVT SITE. Good Luck!

this is taken directly from an email he sent me earlier today...

"It has 92000 miles on it. I drove back and forth from ATL about 20 times, so aprox 30,000 miles is all high way. Rpms never getting over 3000 rpms. Engine is as strong as the day I got it. doesn't leak one bit of fluid from any where. Didn't need a new clutch but replaced it for the new owner about to be. New u- joints because of a small vibration. New rear end because i wanted new gears. New paint on the front of car. side door has a tiny crease about 3 inches long . can't notice much
New 255/45/17 tires , rotors and brakes replaced about 2000 miles ago. New tune up including wire cap and rotor, fluids and belts. Oh yeah I almost forgot. It has a cat back Flowmaster system!! The car is a little louder than most mustangs. You really get noticed on the road. Very Intimidating sound!! Stage 2 hypertech chip!! ( friend owns a body and auto shop)( have all paper work on replaced parts)
It has a mach 460 cd stereo+ a jensen sub amp powering 3- 10 inch subs. Stereo really kicks. Leather is in good condition as you can tell by the pics.
I'm 36 years old and have taken really good care of this car. It was never abused or in any accidents. never driven in the winter. I would keep the thing but I need to pay off a small loan due to my ex driving up all my credit cards. I have a new one on order and can't afford both. I own the title. It's sitting here in my desk waiting for some one to buy. The car is registered and is on file with Ford motor company. Original intruction book with leather case is still like new.
Remember, this was the last year of the push rod 5.0 with gt 40 heads. They only made 750 black cobras that year. What else can I say! It's a cobra!! Not many of them around!
Hope this helps!"

The biggest thing holding me back from buying it right now is that he lives a good distance from me and it will probably have to be shipped... I dont know how I would be able to arrange driving it before i buy it. I'm hopefully going to give him a call tomorrow and try to figure some things out. Thanks for the help guys.

When you test drive it, DRIVE it. Don't keep it below 3000 rpm's. You need to see how the car is throughout the entire powerband. There might be some clutch slipping problems or a vibration that you wouldn't notice in the low rpm's. I hate it when i go to test drive a performance car and the dealer guy tells me to slow down........i'm not here to test drive a buick now am i dude?? lol. If you get a cobra, you are going to "use" it once in a while. All of us do. Just make sure its solid before you pick it up.

everyone is saying 92k is a lot of miles....well the 2005s are out that means this car is 10 years old 92000 divided by 10 equals 9200 miles per year the average driver drives between 12k and 17k a year...the mileage is great, car looks great, price sounds right, now drive the hell out of it and let us know what you decide...!
