Never reach 150hp this way, I won't

To give you an idea of what it would take to reach 150hp in a n/a 2.3.

Some of these mods I have already done, and some are still being worked on, but I will hope to have somewhere around 150hp.

- Full 2.5" exhaust with longtube header and flowmaster 40 series.
- Cold Air Kit
- Head work (Full porting and polishing, milling around .060", mild street cam)
- Slightly polished intakes

I'm hoping that will net me somewhere around 150hp, but Im thinking that I may be somewhere around 135hp. If you want to make real power, go with a 2.3 Turbo swap, or a 5.0L.

You forgot the .550 lift 225 duration roller cam and 10.5:1 compression.

This is probaly your best bet on a 2.3L N/A :nice:

I hope James once you're done you'll post us the results.

damn James still not done?

I think you will be a hell of a lot better off than me. Ports are untouched on my head, I realize now I should have smoothed and polished them as best I could.

air filter and muffler... oh, maybe that'll get ya a rip snortin 89 horsepower. With a new engine that is, seeing how you prolly have a wore out POS, maybe 85hp.

I did pick up a very slightly noticeable gain with Mobil 1 10W30 oil. You can double or triple your change interval (keep changing the filter at 3k miles) so the stuff doesn't hit your wallet as hard as alot of people like to tell you!

No, I wish I were done, but things seem to be moving slowly. To give an idea of what I have already done.

My upper and lower intake have been jet cleaned and glass beaded. If I had a digital camera I would take some pictures and post some, but seeing as how I don't, you'll just have to take my word for it when I say they look pretty damn any good. I still haven't done any intake polishing however.

The ports on my head have been ported out some, I'd say I'm around 50%-60% done my porting. I still need another good long day or two to get it to where I want it. I haven't decided what I am going to use for a cam yet, but I am leaning towards a mild street cam with around 205-210 lift at .050".

Exhaust I have yet to touch. I also haven't made up my mind on which header to use, I dont know if I'll go with a 2.3 Ranger header or a long tube, I guess we'll see how my wallet is feeling that day.

The Cold Air Kit is built and installed.

Right now the Mustang is actually parked for the winter, and I figure I'll start driving it again in March when I have to renew my insurance. I'll be sure to let you know how things turn out as I do them. I haven't been posting for a while because I have been without a computer for the last couple months.

Ray III, hows your car coming?

James I was referring to original poster about K&N etc.

Ranger header was a disappointment (some improvement, but...) get a longtube. The longer the exhaust gas pulses are isolated for each cylinder, the better.

Really should have that intake manifold at least widened to match head ports.

My car was back together long ago. I never meant to have it apart long cause I can't stand to drive anything else, as it is I took 4 months with it, really made me miserable.

Thanks for the tip---I was gonna get the shorties---Do you know of any
interference probs with the longtubes & a Max M/Sports K-member?

The '83 ranger I had responded really well to shorty headers,
a single 2.25" super turbo & small cam, so.....

I just thot I could get 125 hp with headers, 2.25" duals & CAI/Ram air w/K&N
out of this car.

Oh, well

Just want a lil more power & some noise

rite now, anyways
