07 Cobra information, specs/prices/due date

I heard from a super ultra reliable source that the next cobra will have a turbo v6 with 700hp. The next mach, wich will be out next month will have a 450 hp single cylinder 2 stroke motor.

Seriously...I seriously doubt there will be a new Mach before a Cobra. If the Cobra comes out in 2006, then the Mach (or Boss) might be out the following year.

I heard from INS Division 6 that the cobra will actually be fusion powerd with electic gravitational inertial suspension systems which will be rated at 13465hp and the GT will recieve a slightly smaller fusion system and will be rated at ~11654hp.

...tuned for 370hp ...supposed to appear for the '06 M/Y with some final tweaking to be set in stone by Jan/Feb 2005.'

An '06 midyear introduction. You mean mid year 2006?

Aren't those going to be pretty pricey numbers?

By the way, with all these new variations on the V8 coming out so soon, are our new GTs going to become immediately obsolete?

I bet the new models don't come out that powerful, that fast.

Reading the post, I thought: weight

Really, they would need to use a direct spec GT engine ($$$!!) to keep the weight down. The thing's going to be heavy if it has a blower on it, which will make it handle like the SN95s.

Also, if SVT is taking a more "upscale" approach, then they need the HP by engine alone to compete w/the Viper and Vette Z06 (both n/a cars). Otherwise, they'll need to overpower the car (e.g. look at BMW's M5 vs. Merc's CL55/E55 AMG situation--which one would you buy: n/a or s/c?).

I'm just waiting for the Cozzie [Focus RS] to get here finally...

I wonder the same thing. When all we had were naturally aspirated Mustangs, everyone added boost to get their power craving satisfied. Now that we have factory boost, it is suddenly a bad thing?

Show me a naturally aspirated engine -- any size, any manufacturer -- currently in a production car, that puts down at least 350 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels from 2500 RPM to 6000 RPM, and makes 415 rwhp. That engine I will consider a suitable N/A motor for the next Cobra.

Dave

Ask that same question next month when GM introduces the new Z06 with it's 7.0 liter engine.

What difference does it make in how the power is made? Ford has smaller engines, so the blower is the great equalizer. We just get a broader torque curve. :D

The Ford GT - that is as 'upscale' as it gets, and it's s/c'd. :)

Also - prototype Mach 1's are also on the streets. These are supposedly running N/A'd 5.4's, tuned for 370hp with the 6 speed transmissions for now and debate still ongoing about which auto to use. None of the proto Mach's are running the Shaker hood to keep them cloaked to spying eyes. This car is supposed to appear for the '06 M/Y with some final tweaking to be set in stone by Jan/Feb 2005.

So the Mach 1 is coming out for '06, and the Cobra for '07? How come we have not heard anyhing baout the Mach 1 if it is supposed to come out a year earlier than the Cobra?

03-04 cobras will get owned, if they use a low compression S/Cd 5.4 and take out some weight in the 07 cobra....heck I may even buy one LOL...if I like it.MOST current cobra owners need a good humbling, and let the 07 cobra owners think they are the big cheese for a while.

My sister works for Honeywell/Garrett turbocharger. She says they were awarded a contract with ford to build a turbo for the 07 cobra. She didn't have any other info on engine size or power. Well have to wait and see.

this is a pretty stupid comment....dont be such an asshat. Of course the next gen cobra will be better and faster than the current one. Thats how it works.

Well, Ford and Microsoft are going to be at the shop I run the Dyno for tomorrow (Tues). They are bringing a Supercharged V10 Cobra and another car (GT?), to do sound recording on the Dyno for a new Microsoft game. Hopefully we can get some Dyno #'s of the cars. I'll have to wait and see what Ford agrees to.
