well i went to larroccas today to drop off friends car and i asked him about gears and he told it was around 700 in labor to put them into my cobra. then he told me i was better off doing the solid axle if i go to the track often which i do once it opens again. but they wanted to charge 1100 for labor to do the swap so if anyone who has a 99+ GT that wants an IRS let me know. once i get 4.10's in with a solid axle, what should i be running at the track? i have a x pipe w/ cats, catback and cold air. also i will be on DR's, what will i run once i get the gears in? thanks -Jeff

$700 in labor for rear end gears is :bs: bro. Costs me $200 from my Ford Mechanic + $80 for parts/oil needed. If they are charging that much, they better give you a tune and the works too...but i'd say F them...

I think the local Ford performance shop quoted my friend $800 TOTAL for a gear swap, that included parts and such, plus a diablosport thingy to calibrate gears and give a quicky custom tune so yeah, I call :bs: on that shop

Local shop here, Mustang Magic, does gears for $390 with speedo recalibration and all. I'm not sure if swapping gears on an IRS is different where it would cost more to install. I've heard of Larroccas and nothing but good things about them. I'm sure they wouldn't try to screw you.

I have been to Larocca's before and they are expensive. That price included the gears i am sure though. So its not too bad. You pay more no doubt but their work is unbelievable. I had they dynotune my car over a year ago. Amazing.

on a solid axle, the gear price was 275, but the IRS was 700. my friend has an 01 GT that wants to do the swap but he is buying me a catback nad springs cuz he will be gettin mine. but i'm not too sure if i want to do it with him, so if anyone wants to do a swap let me know. and what will i be running with my mods and once i get 4.10's what will i be running? thanks
