Electronic Throttle--No smoky Burnouts??????

  • Sponsors (?)

I have the 5.0 Mustang Issue and you will see that they had to reflash the ECU with the SCT tune to make up for the bottom end "bog" that is built into the management software on the 05 GT.

They compared the 04 GT to the 05 GT and there is a big power hole up till 4,000rpm or so. Easily corrected with the reflash, but this will become the must have for all 05 GT owners.

Again another reason why I ordered a V6 instead

Lies! ALL LIES!

Smoked 'em up in 1st and 2nd tonight! The road is pretty cold here tonight so it was easier to do... It normally hooks up pretty well so it is hard to do (unless you do a 4500 RPM dump.

I just finished reading an article in this months HOT ROD mag... and they to talk about how the computer limits, and almost makes it impossible to do long serious burn outs... I dont think its a myth as some are making it out to be... But with a nice lil program and laptop the problom can easly be fixed, so im not worried... I GET MY NEW GT IN FEB, Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I DON'T WANT TO VOID THE WARRANTY DOING THAT SO I GUESS I WILL LIVE WITH IT.

If your a gizmo guy, the only thing I can think of to fix that problem is if you have a car computer... Im usre you can set it up so that you can turn that pesty ford program on and off with a few clicks of the mouse... Then your warranty should not be effected... Just a long as you hope ford dis not build any sub program that records any sort of tampering with there software...

Some article I read a while ago said something like, "after turning traction control off, rev to 4000rpm and dump the clutch - it should result in 5 to 10 feet of rubber left on the pavement, depending on concrete conditions." Don't remember where I saw it, but it would seem sort of ridiculous if you couldn't burnout.

:rlaugh: :rlaugh: Yea I read that in a mag too LOL. That sounds retared.4k only gets you 5-10 ft. When my 04 was stock or VERY close, 3000-3500RPMs WITH 275 nitto DRs resulted in around 30ft through 1st and 10-15ft in second. Gezze I need a suspension like that under the 04.

ok heres a video of a 05 mustang burning out

http://www.paulsmilitarysales.com/outragvideo.htm

its my friend eric's car (owner of XMP) prior to the sema show

JEEZE that guy is a TOTAL idiot. He is freeking burning the tires off his brand new stang, and put a ton of wear on his rear breaks.Did you hear him bouncing off the limiter for a stop watched timed 11 seconds(total 14 seconds), from the first time he hit the limiter, until he let off just after the limiter kicked in again. Then he freeking does a 5 second reverse burnout. Then pulles back forward and does another 10 second burn. I timed them with my stop watch...that guy needs to have his stang taken away. Now back when I was 16, i did a burn out (no brake hold) with the 00 V6 for my fellow employs (not requested but I thought they would like it LOL). Pulled up in front of HEB after closing, reved to the factory 2 step of around 4500RPMs (pedal to the floor), then cam off the clutch and it bounced off the limiter a coulpe times...i am definatly not proud of that, especially since it was my dads car.BUT I was 16. That guy looks like a little older than that lol. Man I can hardly stand watching that...just the fact that its BRAND new, he is bouncing off the limiter (thats the main thing, either new driver, cant drive, or doesnt give a crap about his car) and holding the brakes that long.Man. :nonono:

I believe that this was a pre-production car, wasn't it? I think it was used as a base for a SEMA car. It was ENCOURAGED by the dealership to promote the car, I'm sure. Also, bouncing off the rev limiter is not a bad thing. It is there for a reason. So you do not over-rev the engine. The engine can handle more than the rev-limiter allows. It is a safety device for the engine. That is why some folks raise it a little when they chip their car.

Also, the rev-limiter never got hit in that car. He is letting off lightly and then getting back into the throttle. Hitting the rev limiter is much more distinct than that. Ever hear a drag car hit the rev limiter at the track. It is not as spaced as this guy's car. It is about every 1/4 second that the RPMs surge and drop not every second like in this video.
